Request to return to active simming

We’re very glad that you’re wanting to return to our group! It’s always wonderful to have those simmers who’ve had to step away temporarily come back and return to the adventure! Please take a read over the following notes, before we get started.

“Is this the right form for me?”

First, have you been gone for more than 180 days (six months)? If so, you DO have to fill out this form. Please skip to the next sub-heading.

Second, did you previously retire completely from the group (instead of filing for an LOA)? If you did retire, then you DO have to fill out this form. Please skip to the next sub-heading.

Have you been gone for less than 180 days (six months):

  • … and you want to return to a DIFFERENT ship than you were on before you left? If so, you do NOT have to fill out this form. Instead, fill out the transfer form.
  • … and you want to return to the same ship you were on before you left, BUT the Captain of that ship is DIFFERENT than when you left (you can check to see if the Captain is the same on this page)? If so, you DO have to fill out this form. Please continue to the next sub-heading.
  • … and you want to return to the same ship you were on before you left, and the Captain of that ship is the same as when you left (you can check to see if the Captain is the same on this page)? If so, you do NOT have to fill out this form. Instead, contact your previous Captain directly to discuss returning. (If you do not know your former CO’s email address, use this form to contact the Executive Council for that information.)

Re-Training

If you’ve been away from the group for more than six months, we will ask you to first undergo a re-training session (as a cadet) to “get back in the habit.” It’s not a disciplinary action — we just want to help re-fresh you on simming and get you in the habit of simming often before we get you back on a ship.

Rank

The rank at which you return is dependent on the method in which you left the group. In some cases, you may be required to return at a lower rank. If you have questions about what rank at which you will return, please use this form to contact the Fleet Placement Officer.

Please keep in mind that during training, and until posting to a vessel, you will be considered a “Cadet.”
