STARBASE 118 — A representative from StarBase 118’s media relations department has confirmed that an investigation into a string murders aboard a civilian starliner has begun.
Two passengers were found dead aboard the civilian starliner Meridia, and another was rushed to the station’s medical complex after a vicious attack. The first victim has been identified as Nate Becker, a Betazoid/Human, and the second as Akal-Teke, a Zaldan. The third victim, Emma Dartmoor, remains in critical condition.
StarBase 118 had responded to a distress call from the Meridia, which had been experiencing engine trouble. The starbase’s senior staff accepted an invitation to a formal dinner as a gesture of thanks by the vessel’s captain Elana Doreln. It was during this dinner that the body of Mr. Becker was discovered, having died from an apparent cyanide overdose. Shortly afterwards, Mrs. Dartmoor was then found brutally attacked, which apparently happened in a brief power outage. Akal-Teke was later found murdered with a holographic recreation of an icicle — after the holographic safeties had been deactivated.
Officials have also confirmed the presence of a dangerous computer program that allowed the murderer, who has yet to be caught, to control much of the Meridia’s systems.
“The program appears to be extremely sophisticated,” said Lieutenant T’Vraana of StarBase 118 Media Relations. “It’s architecture is currently being examined.”
