Recertification Trials Continue as USS Ronin heads home; Bomb on Captain’s Yacht Detonated

Alpha Quadrant – With no rush to return to the Alpha Isles without completing their recertification trials, the crew also enjoys shore leave.

With the majority of their trials completed, the Ronin crew has just entered the Alpha Isles again, albeit at a low warp. With several stops along the way for resupplying, crew excursions, as well as necessary downtime.

The mixed working/shore leave of their return trip was not without its share of issues. Allegedly the arrival of the agents from the Department of Temporal Investigations was not met with any joy as they arrived in the Captain’s ready room. This was moments after announcing their imminent arrival, and they appeared, sitting at the Captain’s own desk before he entered.

Other unpleasantness that occurred on board during this time was a biohazard that required an entire deck to be sealed and apparently was caused by both an error in the replicator system and Antedian biology. It was resolved, though some witnesses did state their sense of smell likely wouldn’t recover any time soon. “For a moment I thought the waste reclamation system had reversed or something,” a crewman wishing to remain anonymous stated. And in an odd, ironic coincidence a report of one of the crew accidentally being stuck in the waste reclamation system also was noted.

Things were not all mishaps as some of the crew made use of the holodecks to pass the time, or enjoyed the two eclectic lounges on board the ship. The three-deck 47 Lounge with its pagoda, zen garden, and lively atmosphere in homage to the Earth culture it’s inspired by, or the Musashi Lounge, a quaint little sushi bar and restaurant, tucked between the torpedo launchers in the ship’s catamaran.

While the recertification seems to have gone particularly well, biohazard aside, the most concerning moment came in the form of an explosive detonation outside the ship during the early hours of one morning. The Ronin’s Captain, Karrod Niac, and First Officer, Toryn Raga apparently took the Captain’s Yacht, called the Kuroawa, out on what was apparently her maiden flight as in the year since the Akira’s launch, the vessel reserved for the CO and VIPs had not been used beforehand.

Reportedly the two senior-most officers on the ship uncovered an explosive device hidden on board the yacht, an ultritium-fueled bomb that was left behind by the Lattice Alliance. Likely planted in the lead-up to Frontier Day, which the crew fortunately never made use of and the damage sustained during the Siege of DS33 might have contributed to some of the bomb’s safeguards being disabled.

Niac and Raga managed to remove the device from the yacht’s internal systems before they tossed it into an escape pod and jettisoned the pod just prior to detonation. The yacht sustained sizable damage but was recovered by the Ronin, along with the two Command Officers.

As the Ronin closes the distance to Deep Space Thirty-Three, we hope the rest of their journey is a less exciting one.
