Crew of USS Astraeus enjoys a period of relaxation and prepares for the turn of the Century

PAR’THA EXPANSE — Following a successful mission to divert a rogue neutron star, the crew of the USS Astraeus enjoys a much-needed period of relaxation while transitioning to their new ship.

Following the successful diversion of a rogue neutron star in the Lanaxa System, the crew of the USS Chin’toka (NCC-97187) transferred to the newly refitted USS Astraeus (NCC-70652). Following the change of command, the crew set about moving their possessions to the Galaxy-class starship, and many began to explore the much larger ship.

After collecting possessions and recovering the shuttles used, the Astraeus took the much-beleaguered Chin’toka in tow and began making their way back to their home base at the Shemsh Colony. Word came from Starfleet Command that the USS Roark, a Sovereign-class starship, had been dispatched to meet them at Shemsh Colony where they would take the Chin’toka and tow it back to Utopia Planitia for extensive repairs and refit.

Meanwhile, in sickbay, Dr Elizabeth Snow and her medical team continued to treat those injured during the operation. Among these was the seriously wounded Senior Nurse Wyla Avae, whose spine was damaged while attempting to evacuate a portion of the Chin’toka. A collaboration began between Snow and Dr Chythar Skyfire to find a treatment for the nurse, who is reportedly currently paralyzed from her injuries. The latest reports from the medical staff indicate that a possible treatment has been found, though they are still working out some of the details.

Elsewhere, several of the crew took advantage of the downtime to engage in some extracurricular activities, including several holodeck programs, walking about the ship to get familiar with its layout, a card game, and some catching up between old friends newly reunited. Capt. Mei’konda Delano has been spotted a few times in the Pagrati lounge having conversations with some of his officers, as well as playing an exhilarating game of ‘Go Fish’. Scuttlebutt also has it that the ship’s Master-at-Arms, CPO Andrew Davis proposed to Operations Chief Lieutenant Commander Esa Kiax, and that the Trill left him hanging as she decides whether to accept.

As the end of 2399 approached, Cmdr. Serala began to organize a party on the ship’s arboretum to celebrate the change of the century, and Mei’konda decided to include a memorial service to the crew members who had perished during the operation at Lanaxa. We are not sure what Serala has planned, but she has something up her sleeve and is playing it very close to the vest.

“I won’t give away the secret,” Lt. JG Jelanna Zarax, told our reporters. “However, the Commander has engaged me and some others in what she hopes will be a magnificent celebration of the turn of the century.”
