Challenges await the new crew of Denali Station and the recently promoted Captain Oddas Aria

DENALI STATION — After a successful deployment aboard the USS Juneau (NX-99801), Captain Oddas Aria received a promotion to Fleet Captain and accepted command of Denali Station.

Captain Oddas Aria was promoted to Fleet Captain onboard the Juneau, as the vessel sat above Denali Station’s eventual site. Former crew mates joined the rest of the Juneau’s crew in honouring Starfleet’s newest Fleet Captain.

Captain Roshanara Rahman, fellow Capstone project manager, and former crew members Lieutenant Commanders Quentin Collins and Artinus Serinus made the long journey to the Aavaro Wilds to partake in the festivities.

“I’ve been with Fleet Captain Oddas in one form or another since she was a Lieutenant Commander in the Duronis II Embassy,” Major Kiran Han said. “I can’t think of anyone who deserves this more than the Captain.”

Lieutenant Dekas was also promoted during the event, rising from Lieutenant JG to full Lieutenant, and the crew received honours for their previous mission.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Oddas informed the assembled crew that they had received instructions from Starfleet Command, formally opening Denali Station and transferring Juneau’s senior personnel and many of her crew. Denali Station is on the surface of the Dyson Ring, in one of the abandoned cities known as Ring 42.

Denali primarily comprises three buildings, each named after a population centre in Alaska on Earth, but there are plans to expand into nearby districts when research and engineering teams can investigate and make them safe.

One of the most significant challenges in the station’s construction will be developing and protecting the infrastructure. Engineers developed redundant systems for electricity and communications for the present buildings, with more systems needed for future structures because the bulk of the ring’s infrastructure was unstudied.

Despite these obstacles, the newly assigned crew of Denali Station worked tirelessly to transform the nearly abandoned metropolis into a new home.
