Join us today for the February watch-along chat

Join us today as we kick back, relax, and chat while watching two fun and silly episodes of Star Trek at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm London / 5am Sydney (AUS). (Click here to see your timezone and add this chat to your calendar.)

How does a watch-along work? Simple! Grab yourself a copy of the episode in any format you like and log onto the chat. Get there a little early if you can to say hi and get all your stuff ready. Then, when the hour rolls around everyone present presses play and we watch a great episode of Trek while chatting about everything we love and remember about it. Or joking about it!

The episodes we will be viewing are: Star Trek: TOS – Spock’s Brain, and Star Trek: TNG – Night Terrors. Spock’s Brain starts at the time listed above, and we’ll start Night Terrors one hour later. The first episode is 50 minutes long, so that gives everyone some time for a bathroom break in between. You can show up for one episode or both. And if you can’t find a copy of the episode, you’re still welcome to hang out with us!

The episodes are available on Netflix or Hulu if you have a subscription, as well as pay-per-view on Amazon.

To participate, simply head to our Discord channel, at: https://www.starbase118.net/chat

io9, a daily blog for science fiction and all that has to do with science and the future, has recently released an article, “The Top 100 Star Trek Episodes Of All Time!,” that’s sure to be as polarizing as it is exhaustive. The list considers all five television series and offers a few thoughts regarding each pick. Although the final ranking was done thanks to the editors, the contenders were all determined via comments on the site. The top ten from the list:

  1. TOS: “Balance of Terror”
  2. TNG: “The Best of Both Worlds”
  3. TOS: “The City on the Edge of Forever”
  4. DS9: “The Visitor”
  5. TNG: “Darmok”
  6. TOS: “The Trouble With Tribbles”
  7. DS9: “In the Pale Moonlight”
  8. TNG: “The Inner Light”
  9. TNG: “All Good Things…”
