Organia – The USS Qin Disrupts Orion Operations
The Federation Starship USS Qin was dispatched to the planet Organia to make contact. Though Organia is considered a primitive planet, contact with spacefaring worlds has been common, as a trade location, given its location near Orion space. A recent uptick in military activity by the Orions prompted Starfleet to attempt to secure a treaty with the Organians which would allow Starfleet to emplace a fleet in the sector and hopefully halt the Orion expansion. The conflict along the Orion front has seen an increase in hostilities over the last year as the Orions have seemingly had a boost in their weapons technology, putting Starfleet behind the curve in the war effort.
Early reports indicate that the crew of the USS Qin has made contact, however, a distress signal was sent from the ship, by Captain S’Rala of Vulcan, asking for fleet support from a nearby region. Multiple ships have been tasked to Organia in response. The USS Qin is purportedly in confrontation with a fleet of Orion ships and the Orions have set foot on Organia and have begun an occupation of the planet. Thus far it appears that there has been almost no resistance from the Organians, however, there have also been reports of armed conflict on the planet’s surface, possibly an indication that engagements between Starfleet personnel and Orion soldiers have begun.
Other activity in the sector has been reported, including possible temporal activity. Though the Federation does not officially acknowledge the existence of time travel, the initial scans coming back to Starfleet Headquarters imply the possibility of something more going on in the sector. Chroniton emissions, though theoretical, have been among the scans and top scientists are looking into the strange phenomenon. The Federation News Service does not, at this time, know what this might mean. However, it is a curious situation we will be monitoring.
