USS ARTEMIS-A — After reports that both the Klingons and the Da’al have dispatched science teams to the planetoid, Starfleet sends the USS Artemis-A to investigate the results of the Genesis Device.
Nearly four years ago, the crew of the USS Resolution were evacuated after a Genesis Device was beamed aboard. The Device detonated at the same instant that the Resolution crash landed on a small asteroid. The resulting planetoid, a luscious planet full of arboreal life, was immediately declared a no-fly zone by Starfleet, with visitors strictly forbidden.
However, this ruling appears to have been broken, with rumours swirling of science teams having been dispatched by both the Klingons, and the Da’al. These two races, whilst not necessarily at war with one another, do enjoy hostile relations, and so Starfleet have dispatched the USS Artemis-A to investigate their presence, as well as to keep the peace.
Interestingly, Cmdre. Kalianna Nicholotti is aboard the Artemis, who was the Commanding Officer of the asteroid formerly known as the Resolution, alongside several other officers from under her tenure, including the Artemis’ CO, Cpt. Addison MacKenzie, Lt. Vitor Silveira, and the Resolution’s final Captain, Cmdr. Genkos Adea.
“It’s a very difficult time for a lot of us,” Adea said to our reporter. “It brings up a lot of bad memories, not just for myself, but for a lot of the crew – fourteen of our colleagues died when the Resolution exploded”
These fourteen included LtCmdr. Ieyfr Farrel, the Resolutions Chief Science Officer, who took command of the bridge when the order to evacuate was given. It was her brave sacrifice that prevented the detonation from taking any more lives.
Currently, it appears that several teams of Artemis officers are down on the planetoid’s surface, and those teams are being threatened by not just the Klingons and the Da’al, but the native plant life as well. Early reports suggest the plant life forms one giant bio-organism, and it has evolved rapidly over the last few years to defend itself from intruders. More to follow.
