Over the years, Starbase 118 has had numerous members join our ranks. Some are with us for a season before they have to take a leave of absence. Some return. Some don’t. Others have come and remained with us for years, and a few among them have worked their way up through the ranks to launch a ship or base of their own. This in itself is no small feat, but there are a small number who have not only been long-time members, but have served as long-time Commanding Officers.
This year, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Commodore Jalana Rajel, who has been a gentle and welcoming presence on SB118. Rajel joined Starbase 118 as a full member on June 11, 2012, and was assigned to the USS Apollo. Less than a year later, they worked their way to Lieutenant Commander, then achieved the rank of Commander on May 28, 2015, just shy of their third anniversary in the group.
On that same day, Rajel launched the USS Constitution with them as its commanding officer. They officially gained the title of Captain on December 31, 2015, were promoted to Fleet Captain on February 21, 2019, and achieved the rank of Commodore on June 3, 2020. To this day, they retain the title of Commanding Officer of the Conny, as their crew affectionately refers to them.
As of today, May 28, 2025, Rajel has served their 3650th day as Commanding Officer, reaching the 10-year milestone, and has, as of this tally, served faithfully as the Constitution-B’s Commanding Officer for the entirety of that time. In recognition of this great milestone, Commodore Jalana Rajel’s box on the Family Tree will henceforth be colored Gold, an honour only granted twice before in this fleet’s existence.
