ALTARIAN REACHES — Without a permanent base in the region, the crew of the USS Eagle attempted shore leave aboard a vessel still packed with refugees from their previous mission.
Following the rescue of hundreds of temporal refugees from the Collectors’ planet, the Eagle crew embarked on a well-earned break. However, with evacuees filling the corridors, true relaxation proved elusive for many.
In sickbay, the medical team worked tirelessly to assess and treat each refugee, developing tailored care plans and administering crucial vaccination boosters. Despite minor medical concerns—including parasites common to their original time periods—none of the newcomers suffered serious illness. The team worked efficiently despite being slowed by a few uncooperative patients, including one so combative that LtCmdr. Kettick had to administer a light stun.
Beyond medical needs, the psychological impact of abrupt displacement into the 25th century placed immense pressure on the counselling staff. To help meet the surge in demand, Cmdr. Falt enlisted the aid of a retired Starfleet counsellor among the civilians. Several crewmembers also took the opportunity to seek guidance, helping to maintain emotional resilience amid the upheaval.
For senior officers, shore leave offered little reprieve. Cmdre. Nicholotti and Cmdr. DeVeau held performance meetings with Lt. Drex, addressing recent concerns and exploring growth opportunities aboard the ship. Meanwhile, LtCmdr. Williams launched an inquiry into an unusual transfer request, coordinating next steps with Cmdr. Falt, who continued to help new officers integrate through meet-and-greet sessions.
With so much happening, crewmembers made the most of any fleeting moments of rest. Lt. Tanner managed a rare escape from engineering for a stroll around the ship, while Ens. ch’Clex and Letek—along with newcomer Lt. Yinn—visited the Black Hole Bar on Deck 11. Others made use of the science labs, and Ens. Lim began redesigning the gymnasium using holographically generated exercise equipment, all under Kettick’s watchful eye.
Everyone received time off to attend the traditional post-mission awards ceremony, organised by Cmdr. DeVeau. This time, the event was themed “Around the Galaxy in 30 Days” and encouraged attendees to showcase traditional attire and cuisine from their home planets.
The next mission is just around the corner, but as of this writing, the crew is gathering for the festivities—and the party’s just getting started!
