Prime Directive Crisis Emerges During USS Artemis Search and Rescue Mission in Borderlands

BORDERLANDS, CELEDI NEBULA – A routine mission to locate the missing civilian freighter Tritorian has transformed into a high-stakes situation for the USS Artemis-A (NCC-81287) after FltCapt. Addison MacKenzie and her crew discovered the freighter crash-landed on the pre-warp planet Ura Neteos III.

The search mission began in the irradiated Celendi Nebula, with new HCO officer Ensign Lyara Alroyo’s grim analysis revealing a vast search grid that could hinder timely rescue efforts. As a countermeasure, LtCmdr. Jovenan recalibrated sensors to penetrate the nebula’s radiation, assisted by LtJG Gnai and Ens. Ollie Bergmen. In parallel, LtCmdr. Talos Dakora mobilised the Medical Division to tackle potential radiation poisoning issues, while Cmdr. Genkos Adea oversaw extensive sickbay preparations.

A breakthrough occurred when sensors identified two potential planetary sites: one lifeless, the other inhabited. The lifeless planet yielded no signs of the Tritorian, forcing Capt. MacKenzie to focus on Ura Neteos III. Upon confirming the freighter’s crash, she mobilised the Artemis’ Senior Staff in several teams to assess the situation without compromising the locals’ societal development.

One of these teams, commanded by Dakora and including Lt. Vitor Silveira, Ens. Bergman and LtJG Savel soon arrived at the part of the wreckage containing the cargo bay only to find it stripped by the locals. A partially recovered manifest indicated that the cargo was primarily medical supplies, but suspicion about the freighter’s actual cargo remains high.

Elsewhere on the jungle planet of Ura Neteos III, MacKenzie’s team, comprised of Gnai, Lyara, LtCmdr. Salkath and Ens. Imril encountered a troop of hostile Meirash soldiers armed with primitive weapons. During a brief skirmish Ens. Lyara sustained a minor injury before and the team was taken prisoner, but not before MacKenzie managed to transmit a covert distress signal to the other teams.

Meanwhile, Dakora’s team encounters a mysterious Meirash named Falia who claims to have knowledge of a Tritorian survivor. Receiving MacKenzie’s distress call, but determined to accomplish his objectives, Dakora dispatches Savel and Silveira to locate the Captain’s team and report back.

The final team, led by Cmdr. Adea consisting of Jovenan, Lt. Gila Sadar, and Ens. Kel Solas struggled to navigate the rough terrain of the jungle, deal with hostile wildlife, and dodge Meirash patrols. As the sun begins to set, they begin to look for shelter to camp for the night.

This complex rescue mission has escalated into a delicate operation, balancing rescue goals with the responsibility to preserve the Meirash civilisation’s natural evolution. With several crew members detained and evidence of pre-industrial interference, the Artemis crew is racing to minimise the cultural impact while ensuring the safety of their crew and rescuing any of the remaining crash survivors.
