UNSTABLE TEMPORAL WORMHOLE – Crew returned safely from time travel
The crew of the USS Octavia E. Butler has returned from a harrowing trip through time. In the absence of their captain, First Officer Avander Promontory led the crew to ‘acquire’ a time crystal in the year 3201. While this allowed them to escape the 33rd century, the crew did not end up home immediately, due to interference by Cultists of the Loom.
Instead, the time crystal shattered and took small groups of crew to different points in time. Initial reporting suggests visits to 2024, 2156, 2340, 2374, early 2401, and 2900. How (or if) they have all returned is not clear at this time.
The Department of Temporal Affairs has been dispatched to mitigate any damage to the timeline, particularly as it has been reported that one Lieutenant had an ‘interaction’ with his own grandmother. The FNS has also detected a request for emergency services directed towards the Trill homeworld. Official fleet records suggest two joined Trill are currently serving aboard the Butler. It is unclear which of them are injured, or if it might be both.
One rumour, that has yet to be substantiated, suggests that one crew member saw their future self die. When our reporter attempted to reach the officer, they replied, “No comment,” and began crying. Another ensign, an engineer, told reporters, “There’s been far too many explosions, I just want to take a long nap.”
Additional unsubstantiated claims include the presence of destructive creatures who’s mere touch can erase someone from the timeline. An officer who was alleged to see a crewman disappear this way had this to say, “What? Who? I don’t know what you’re talking about–I’ve never known someone with that name!.”
A number of new ensigns were spoken of highly by their commanding officer. “They acquitted themselves like seasoned professionals, we could use more just like them!.” One of these, an Ens. Nis, remarked, “This is exactly what my mum warned me would happen if we joined Starfleet!”
A few officers were also temporarily sent six months in the past to the events of Frontier Day. “DTI won’t let me say if it would’ve been worse if we weren’t there,” sulked one officer.
