Awards Nominations for 2012 are Open

Greetings fellow Starbase 118 Officers and Crewmen!
Every year, without fail, we gather to celebrate the accomplishments we’ve made throughout the past year within our sims. This is a core tradition that has been continued from the very beginnings of the group, and one we all look forward to towards the end of each year.
This year, the beginning of this process – the nomination period – began on the 19th of November. As of now, nominations are open and each player has the chance to nominate officers from across the fleet for the awards encompassed by our awards ceremony.The ceremonies themselves will begin around the middle of December, while the Fleet-wide ceremony will be held near the end of December.
With the nomination period now open, all players are encouraged to go to the nomination panel and submit officers you’ve interacted with over the past year, including staff members, for one of the yearly awards: http://go.starbase118.net/awards-form
**Remember, the nomination period will close promptly at 11:59pm on Sunday, December 9th.**
Over the weeks to come, the nomination that you submit will be compiled and reviewed by specific groups; your Captains, an awards committee comprised of members from across the fleet, and the Executive Council. Those that are deemed to be the best will be given an award.
Keep in mind that all of these awards come from the players that make up this fleet! This is the one chance that you have to show those you sim with how much you value their contributions. When a ship has little or no award recipients, it is a direct reflection on the fact that there were few nominations from that specific crew. That’s why it is important for everyone to nominate at least one other person from their crew!

Keep these things in mind as you begin submitting fellow officers for nominations:
* Duty Post, Special, and Staff awards are given to only one officer per year and are Fleet-wide.
* Only one person per crew can get one of the General awards.
* You can find a list of past recipients on the wiki as well so that you can see what officers have won in the past. Remember that some awards were created just last year, so there may be no previous recipients.
In closing, remember that you Commanding Officers also do lots of hard work behind the scenes to keep the fleet and the community up and running. They are not paid for their work, and though they are considered our staff, it is their endless hours of devotion that keep things going smoothing. Keep this in mind as you are submitting your nominations and consider nominating your Commanding Officer for an award as well.
