We’re here with another interview with a newer member of our community. The title of this column is “Lower Decks,” hearkening back to the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode titled “Lower Decks,” in which junior officers aboard the Enterprise-D speculate on the reasons for recent unusual actions taken by the command crew near the Cardassian border.
This month’s interview is with the writer behind Ens. Yiggtissi playing a Saurian male assigned to the USS Gorkon.
WOLF: Tell us a little about the writer behind the character — where in the world do you hail from?
YIGGTISSI: I live just outside of Nashville, Tennessee.
Were you a Star Trek fan before joining UFOP: StarBase 118? If so, what were your favorite shows and/or movies?
YIGGTISSI: I have been a Trek fan since I was about 9 years old. I am a fan of the all of the series with TOS being my fav and TNG coming in second. I love Voyager as well.
Saurians are not a species we see a lot of playing characters of in our fleet – how’d you land on that decision and what’s it been like so far?
YIGGTISSI: I have always played either Gorn or some variant of lizard creature. I love playing those characters that you rarely see on screen. It make for a better writing and creativity.
What duty post are you playing, and how’d you choose it?
YIGGTISSI: I am currently playing a medical officer on the Gorkon. I typically play security roles, as I have a background in law enforcement. Medical is always my backup character when security posts are taken.
What’s your favorite part of playing on the Gorkon, or being a member of our community, so far?
YIGGTISSI: I love the the ship and I enjoy simming with all of the wonderful people on the Gorkon. I love the structure and feel of this community as well.
Looking back on your experience so far, what would be one piece of advice you’d give to anyone who’s just joined?
YIGGTISSI: Take your time and do not get ahead of yourself. And if you have several signatures set up in your email program, don’t forget to change them when posting to your group. 🙂
Thanks for your time, Ens. Yiggtissi!
