On January 1st, the Ongoing Worlds blog announces it’s winner for the Simulation Cup. The cup is described by it’s creators as “a one-time competition allowing role play games of various clubs and genres to compete against each other in a friendly manner for several awards.” It gives us great pleasure to announce that the crew of Starbase 118 Ops, led by Captain Kali Nicholotti, are among this year’s list of winners. The award recognizes a group that has produced not only a compelling story, but has done so with significant contributions from all participating members, rather than just a few. The Cup recognizes what the judges believe to be the best sims of the year, based on five categories: creativity, originality, character development, prolificness (pace and level of participation by members) and readability (how interesting the story is to those outside the genre). The crew of Ops was named this year’s winner for Excellence in Prolificness.
From the Charles Star at Ongoing Worlds:
We had a lot of great sims that participated in the Simulation Cup, and unfortunately, we weren’t able to recognize them all. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a collection of great games, and Starbase 118 was certainly among the best. Starbase 118 really stood out in that its crew was able to not only produce a high number of posts, but the quality of those posts were outstanding and the contributions came from many different crew members. It’s an example of collaboration at its best.
If you happen to run into one of the crew of Starbase 118, go ahead and congratulate them on an award well-earned. And to see just what kind of writing won them their accolade, check out the Starbase 118 Ops Yahoo group!
Congratulations from the News Team and the entire 118 Fleet!
