The Tricorder TR-580 app

Have an iPad? Like Star Trek? There’s an app for that:

CBS and the iTunes store have joined forces to create and sell an iPad application based upon the later Trek incarnations’ PADD designs. The app won’t provide information on ship functions or include memos from Captain Picard, unfortunately, but it does feature a growing database of Trek information, complete with authentic Trek sound effects.

The app is only one of several available. The user-developed Tricorder TR-580 is designed to turn the iPad into a tricorder, complete with sounds and randomly-selected scan results, and the 6 LCARS updates the iPad or iPhone with an LCARS interface.

Gimiky stuf aside, this is cool. How long before we have tricorders and PADDS.

I mean we have an IPAD now.

The rapidly growing tablet computers market are kind of like PADDs now. They hold a great deal of information that can be controlled from a PC. Wouldn’t mind a Tricorder, though.

Is this iPADD app (love the name!) available for iphones too, or just for iPad?

    I want one . . .
