This area is for cadets who have submitted an application and received an acceptance letter. If you haven’t submitted your application yet, check out our joining tour!
So your application has been screened, and you’ve been accepted to StarFleet Academy. Congratulations, Cadet!
This area of the website is intended to walk you through your training class, and help you during the process of becoming a full member of our group.
Where to start
First, register for our forums — they’re a very important part of our community.
Once you’ve submitted your registration, you’ll receive an automated email asking you to verify your email address. Once you’ve done that, one of our staff will approve your account. Sometimes, this takes a few hours, but you’ll still be able to wander around the forums and post in a few cadet-friendly areas.
Introduce your character
Once the actual training program starts, we’ll teach you how to sim with us. But for right now, let’s just dive in and start role-playing to introduce your character and flex your writing muscles. Follow this link to our “Arrival at StarBase 118” thread, and read the instructions. Then, click the black “reply to this topic” button and post your response. Don’t worry about the format — just write however it’s comfortable for you. Be creative!
Did you join your training group list?
In the welcome email you received, which notified you that your application was approved, you’ll find a link to the email list where your training will take place. You must join the group or you will not be included in the training. Follow the instructions in the email.
Yahoo may prompt you to create a Groups account. The process is painless, quick, and free. Yahoo! provides a short help file explaining the steps. Yahoo may issue you an email account, but you don’t have to use it. You can still add your current email address (Gmail, Hotmail, work, school, etc.) to your new Yahoo Groups account.
Other things you may want to do
- Introduce yourself: now introduce your real self in our Official Welcome Thread. Just read that first post, and click the black “reply to this topic” button to reply with your own introduction.
- Check out the Admissions forum: the Admissions forum is your first stop to ask pre-training questions.
When training begins
When training is about to begin, you’ll receive an e-mail from that training group e-mail list. This e-mail will be from a UFOP: StarBase 118 staff member, asking you to introduce yourself to the other members of this training list. Simply push the “Reply” button on your e-mail program, and everyone will receive your answer. Follow the directions carefully!
Now what?
Use the links in the sidebar of this page to navigate the “Cadets” area. You can learn more about developing your character, brush up on your Star Trek knowledge, and get a head start on simming skills.
