The relaunch of Excalibur and Darwin

The Executive Council is excited to announce the relaunch of two ships you may remember from our recent history – the USS Excalibur-A, and the USS Darwin-A – to help us alleviate overcrowding on our other vessels and expand our fleet!

Both of these vessels will be relaunched by the same commanding officer players that captained them previously. (The Darwin’s CO will be using a new character.)

There will be lots of new opportunities for fresh stories, new friendships, and sometimes even the chance to move up to a new role like department chief (when available). You will play an important role in developing the tone and feel of the sim.

Each new ship we launch helps us add more open slots around the fleet for new ensigns, ensuring that new members are more likely to get their first choice duty post. Meanwhile, it keeps the number of crew members down on each ship, so that each member gets more attention from the ship’s staff. These reasons make it more likely for new members to stay with the group long term, and therefore help us grow the fleet.

Your captain has already been briefed about this launch, and you are encouraged to submit your transfer form if you’d like to play on either the Excalibur or the Darwin. Our community staff are in agreement that helping to alleviate overcrowding on our ships is good for everyone, and no one will be barred or discouraged from transferring.

Act quickly to submit your transfer request as the roster of new ships usually fills-up within 48 hours of our first announcement going out.

Learn more about the ships

  • USS Excalibur-A, Vesta class: Commanded by FltCapt. Kali Nicholotti. Launching Monday, February 16.
  • USS Darwin-A, Horizon class: Commanded by Cmdr. Renos. Launching Monday, March 9.

You can also head to the forums and ask questions of either commanding officer: Excalibur forum / Darwin forum.

You won’t lose your promotion progress!

Your current captain will update your new captain with your promotion progress and what kind of work you’ve done for your current ship. This will ensure that you’re still on the same time-line for a promotion as you were previously.

Start your transfer now!

If you’d like to transfer with a buddy, both of you will need to submit transfer forms, and both must request buddying in the comments section below. We can’t promise to honor all buddy transfer requests, but if we can accommodate one of you, and not the other, we’ll contact you before setting anything in stone to see how you want to proceed.

Simply fill out the form below with your contact information. We’ll add you to the list of potential crew for the launch and you’ll be notified soon as to whether you’ve been accepted. Excalibur is launching first, so those crew transferring there will be notified sooner.

Not everyone who submits this form will be able to transfer due to space considerations. This transfer request won’t affect your standing on your current vessel if you aren’t transferred to the new ship.

Please note that we are not accepting new secondaries or PNPCs at this time – primary characters and existing secondaries only. The goal of this launch is to alleviate overcrowding, so adding new secondaries won’t help us solve the problem.
