  • About you

  • Use the rank and character name you wish to appear in the "From:" line of the email. It will appear like this:
    FltAdml. Tristan Wolf (info@starbase118.net)
  • You can find your ID on the wiki.

  • Podcast Team, Publicity Team, monthly chat, etc.
  • Provide the URL of the page, form, etc., where the user is going to go.
  • If you're announcing the release of something (like a podcast), then pick a date soon after the release. If you're announcing an upcoming event, be sure to pick a date far enough in advance for people to put it on their calendar.

  • Email text

    Now it's time to provide the text of the email. Before you write this, look back over past emails sent to the fleet about your subject, and others.

    Consider the clearest, most direct way to say your message. Our style is simple and straightforward. Avoid "flowery" or over-enthusiastic language, especially introductions that ask rhetorical or fantastical questions of the reader.

    Consider some of these examples:
    • 2015 Awards Ceremony
    • Cast your vote today
    • Changes to wiki page naming conventions
    • Fleetwide Plot Arc Contest

    Avoid exclamation points at all costs. We will not send emails with exclamation points in the subject lines, and no more than two in a 400-word body!
  • Add a new row
    You must provide at least three potential subject lines – we'll choose the best. Be descriptive, but clear and direct.
  • This is different than your subject lines. This goes in the email itself. It should be very short and punchy.
  • A slightly longer, enticing description of what the email is about.
  • Remember to include a "call to action," like so:
    Click here to vote now on the Top Sim of the Year. Voting closes in two weeks, so don't delay!
