((Aeroshuttle, Azure Nebula))
TRESSA: ::Smiling:: I’ve located the freighter.
ORMAN: ::in a confident tone:: Never doubted it for a moment. Alright Ensign, ::nodding toward the transporter controls:: Input the coordinates. After that it should be automatic, but try to stay near the controls just in case we need a fast withdrawal.
TRESSA: Yes Lieutenant!
Tressa was still smiling as she set her coordinates into the system, she felt such pride in herself, and her confidence was only boosted by Orman’s faith in her ability. She didn’t miss MacKenna as much in that moment, and felt better in general. As she watched the boarding party disappear in the glow of the transporter she silently wished them luck. Even after the last of them disappeared, Tressa remained by the console waiting for any sign they needed out, when all was silent she headed up to the cockpit with a soft smile on her features, and plopped herself into one of the seats.
So far, so good. All was going well. The freighter had been located, the boarding party was away. Ensign Eisaran and herself would linger in the area then head back to the Victory. She knew she would feel better back on the larger Intrepid ship; back with MacKenna, back at her science console on the Bridge. Tressa snorted to herself, how ironic that just that morning she was feeling nostalgic for the sensation of getting off the Victory, and now that she was, all she wanted was to be back there. before she could dwell on the irony of the situation the console in front of her emitted a warning alarm. Glancing at The nosy machine her eyes widened, she felt fear as she looked to Eisaran to see if the other Ensign had seen what the display told her… a Romulan warbird had decloaked, and they were easily within weapons range.
Everything happened very quickly after that, Tressa barely had time to register the foreboding sight of the ship and look to Eisaran before a blast rocked the shuttle so violently Tressa had to hold onto the console to keep herself in her seat. Her heart was in her throat, and she felt sick from the terror that seized her. Her first though was that they were dead. There was no way they could out run the warbird, it knew where they were, and the shuttle was no protection from it. As another blast hit the tiny shuttle she clung to the console in front of her and her mind flew to another thought; The Victory.
If the Intrepid ship was still running on silent their long range scanners may not be online… it was possible they wouldn’t see the second escort. Her eyes widened with a new fear as her mind put all the information together. If the first ship was still on it’s original path the two escorts would meet the Victory at roughly the same time. Her thoughts flew to the crew, to MacKenna’s safety, and even Commander Jaxx. Her department head who she admired so much, and possibly the first person she could call ‘friend’ on the starship, the only one she had really let go around… admitted under the effect of a *lot* of alcohol… but still… she had to warn them.
Another blast rocked the tiny shuttle and a warning alarm sounded about some system that was failing; but Tressa wasn’t focussing on anything but setting up a channel to the Victory. She spoke aloud as she worked, partly so Eisaran knew what she was doing, and partly to try and keep herself sane. She was aware of the shaking in her voice and as the channel to the Victory opened she did her best to swallow her fear and sound partially in control of her emotions at that
TRESSA: =/\= Aeroshuttle Beethoven to USS Victory, a Romulan Warbird has decloaked approximately 3 minutes from your last recorded location with us. It appears th- =/\=
Her words were cut off by another blast. Clinging to her console Tressa clenched her jaw as tears sprung to her eyes, the slightest whimper escaped. She attempted to straighten herself immediately continuing to inform the Victory as best she could, almost yelling over the alarms sounding around the cockpit.
TRESSA: =/\= It appears the warbird isn’t paying any attention to the freighter, the boarding party is on th- =/\=
Another blast. This time as Tressa clung to the console as she had before, the machinery in front of her appeared to explode. Sparks flew everywhere and Tressa was aware of a burning in her hands where she held the system. The sudden pain cause her to let go, crying out in pain and surprise, the momentum of the blast pulling the tiny Gideon from her seat.
Tressa remembered the sudden light as the console in front of her exploded. The pain in her hands from the sparks and the explosion, she remembered leaving her seat unwillingly, and the sensation of no longer touching the ground… more pain as she was thrown against the bulkhead; her head, her body ached, her hands burned. She remembered hitting the ground and then the gradual and terrifying decent into unconsciousness as she laid on the shuttle floor.
