Anyone can build a character, if they have the right tools. But can you build a world around them? You can if you learn from the best architects and designers of characters and the world that surrounds them.
That was the central idea of the Writing Improvement Month when it was created in 2013. And after a successful year we’re ready to bring back those architects and designers, for the sake of honing our craft and learning new tips and tricks to help you build a beautiful fictional universe.
Join us for a month-long event of writing, tutorials, guided study, featured works of great fiction, and interviews with professional writers. We welcome anyone – you don’t have to be a member of the Starbase 118 Fleet to participate. If you are not a member, sign up by contacting Fleet Captain Kalianna Nicholotti and she’ll make sure you get access to everything we’re doing for Writing Improvement Month!
Our event focuses on nine subjects: Character Building, Descriptive Writing, Scene Setting, Character Interactions, Plotting, Simming Realistically, Character Conflicts, Grammar, and Research. Over the course of the month, you’ll hear from expert writers on how to improve your writing in each of these areas.
