After the USS Gemini, NCC-80564, arrived at Rathos Prime, Commander Liam Frost approved a team to set up a mobile lab on the planet’s surface. The team, led by Lieutenant Commander T’Mar, arrived safely and began working on finding a cure. With news of the Federation assistance spreading, locals began rioting in the capital city. Concerned, Frost checked in with T’Mar and the team to stay alert. Major Ben Edwards, in charge of Security, then received an alarm that something or someone was approaching their position.
Meanwhile, on the Gemini, the crew continued their work as well and found increasing evidence that the pathogen was man-made. Also learning of the perimeter breach, Frost reached out to Rathosian authorities. To make the situation worse, some of the group that had approached the away team’s lab became increasingly violent, attacking the shuttle and the lab itself. While obviously a threat, the situation was made even worse when Lieutenant Driscoll accidentally infected herself with the lethal virus. The away team scrambled to secure the situation, while the Gemini prepared to fire a warning shot on the surface.
As more violent locals headed to the area, T’Mar allowed Lieutenant Commander Oliver Weston to separate from the group to secure the shuttle only for him to find that the shuttle had been grounded and he was pinned down. With the situation escalating and Driscoll infected, it is up to the crew of the Gemini to find a way to calm the riots and find a cure or risk violating protocols to beam the team to safety.
Once repairs were completed, the USS Gemini, NCC-80564, left StarBase 118 and headed to StarBase 224 for a routine resupply run.
Meanwhile, Commander Liam Frost received urgent news: The people of Rathos Prime, a warp-capable society that traded with – but never joined – the Federation, were being plagued by an aggressive population. The leaders of Rathos Prime had reached out to the Federation for humanitarian aid before this pathogen infected and killed them all.
Knowing time was short, Frost gave the order to head directly there and called a briefing where the Senior Staff could establish a plan of action. Without knowing more about the pathogen, other than it was continuously mutating and always lethal, the staff had their work cut out for them. Thankfully, when they were about four hours away, the Commander of the Rathosian Armada, Lord Commander Tyrek Zim, contacted them and began transmitting all known data on the pathogen. First Minister Arvin Zagan and Doctor Jorgen Layvim also contacted the Gemini to help the Gemini’s crew start working on a solution, however it left many wondering more about the source of the pathogen and if there was more to this problem than the Rathosian’s were letting on. When they arrived at Rathos Prime, it was determined that T’Mar would lead a team to the surface utilizing the ship’s mobile lab.
After battling the Klingons, the USS Gemini, NCC-80564, made its way back to StarBase 118 for repairs. While they were docked, the crew enjoyed their leave. The crew was all invited to a beach BBQ on one of the doctors’ was hosting. Captain Liam Frost attended the funeral of Fleet Captain Nicholotti, while LtCmdr T’Mar dealt with the unfortunate consequences of an overeager doctor running tests on her empathic abilities after she sent Ensign Braddock for testing due to his sudden onset of abilities. Both also received news of the destruction of their old ship, the USS Apollo. Once repairs were completed, the crew boarded the ship again and are now on their way to StarBase 224.
Having managed to regain control of the USS Hermes, the USS Gemini NCC 80564 and the USS Wyoming NCC 82011 turn their attention to the Klingon Warbird commanded by the rogue officer Koval. A transmission intercepted by Ensign Rocko Stevens confirms that Koval is acting outside of the direction of the High Council.
But as aggressive and determined as he is, Koval knows when he is outgunned, and that his ship is no match for the combined power of the Gemini and the Wyoming. Rather than press the fight, Koval retreats into Klingon space. The Gemini is in no condition to pursue, leaving Koval to escape.
The Hermes secured, the Gemini sets course for Starbase 118 for urgently needed repairs and some well deserved leave.
After taking heavy damage, the USS Gemini, NCC-80564 retreated to the Celendi Nebula where it met up with the USS Wyoming who was there to bring officer transfers. The two ships worked on a plan to disable the Klingon Bird of Prey. Meanwhile, on the USS Hermes, the SAR team split up into two groups working on a way to either regain control of the ship or destroy it. The Red team successfully took control of Engineering, while the Blue team found the Hermes’ Captain and First Officer and successful won the fight for control of the Bridge. The Wyoming and the Gemini were able to distract the Bird of Prey long enough to beam casualties from the Hermes over. Before they were able to capture the rogue Klingon, Cmdr. Koval, he managed to escape. With their mission completed, the SAR team returned to the Gemini.
Having learned of the Hermes’ disappearance, the USS Gemini, NCC 80564 set out for the Borderlands to investigate. Before their arrival, however, the ship dropped out of slipstream and was greeted by a Klingon Bird of Prey with strange markings on it. With the assumption that the Klingon ship was rogue, the crew of the Gemini proceeded with caution and were caught offguard when the Hermes decloaked in front of them. Knowing that the Klingons were now in control of a Starfleet vessel, Captain Liam Frost sent a team over to attempt a rescue and if all else failed, to destroy the ship. They managed to get the team over to the Hermes in one piece, but not without taking damage to the ship. Seeing an advantage, the Bird of Prey began to attack without warning sending the Gemini running for reduce in the nearby Celendi Nebula.
Chief Science Officer Alexander Richards of the USS Gemini was born in Tycho City, Lunar Colony. Whilst studying the sciences at Oxford University, Alexander had a paper published on applied warp mechanics past, present and beyond. He graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2387, after which he took up his first duty post in the Operations Division on the USS Independence-A in 2388 as the Chief Communications Officer. He later served on the USS Tiger-A, USS Mercury, USS Drake, andStarbase 118 Ops before being assigned to the USS Gemini.
While investigating a strange occurrence on Deep Space 10 during his time aboard the Mercury, Alexander triggered the base’s ancient defense systems and was paralyzed from the waist down. He is now in a wheelchair, but he has not let this get in the way of his career. Alexander feels his biggest achievement in life so far is becoming a father to his son John Richards. He always wants to set an example for him and be the best role model that he can be.
This month, our star pick bio belongs to Major Dade Adarnis, so congratulations to him!!
Alexander Richards’s bio will be displayed on the wiki’s front page for the month of April. As always, you can find out more about the contest at its wiki page or in its forum. Round 6 is now open, so be sure to drop by and submit your own nominations!
Less than 24 hours after the launch of the USS Gemini, NCC 805464 Commander Liam frost is contacted by Admiral Alex Raymond of Starfleet Strategic Operations. The USS Hermes, a Nova class vessel has been reported missing in the Borderlands, the Gemini’s Area of Operation. No sign of the Hermes has yet been found.
To make matters worse, A Klingon Commander named Koval claims to have found the Hermes in Klingon territory and destroyed her. Long range scans of the Area have failed to confirm or refute Koval’s claim.
The mission of the Hermes was ostensibly to patrol the area along the Klingon border for any unusual activity. Bu Lieutenant Commander Oliver Weston has revealed a darker layer to the mission of the missing ship. According to Starfleet Intelligence, the Hermes was equipped with an experimental long range sensor array, meant to allow ships to scan even deeper into Klingon territory without said scans being detected. If they were found out it would certainly provide grounds for the Klingons to capture the Hermes.
The Gemini, without time to perform a proper shakedown, has engaged it’s QSD and is now on the way to the Celendi Nebula to begin the search for the Hermes, hopefully intact.
