Doppelgängers and alternate universes bedevil the USS Octavia E. Butler

GAMMA QUADRANT — A diplomatic mission led by Captain Lia Rouiancet, along with Commanders Avander Promontory and Joshua Herrick, arrived earlier this week at coordinates provided by the United Dominion of Planets (UDP).

The group was accompanied by Marine Captain Wes Greaves. Officials reported difficulties with shipboard scanners and interference that disrupted communication with an awaiting vessel.

During the mission, an alternate version of Commander Katsim Peri reportedly appeared aboard the Federation runabout Talents via transporter, subsequently incapacitating officers on board. The real Commander Peri then assumed command of the USS Octavia E. Butler in Captain Rouiancet’s absence. Commanders Toxin Arlill and Lhandon Nilsen were named First and Second Officer, respectively.

While investigating a nearby anomaly, the Butler encountered a burst of unidentified energy. Several officers later reported unusual symptoms. Commander Arlill, along with Lieutenants. S’vyak and Caras began investigating the source of the energy and any potential damage. Commander Moydol, along with Lieutenant Jania Nis and another unnamed officer, focused on medical evaluations of the affected crew. Meanwhile, Commander Lhandon Nilsen, along with Lieutenant Anton Richards and Lieutenant JG Kimonzi Lahl, investigated an abandoned ship of unknown origin.

Shortly afterward, an alt version of Commander Katsim infiltrated the Butler, tagging 36 crew members who were transported off the Butler and onto the abandoned ship. The away team on board the strange ship was recalled just before the vessel then entered warp and disappeared into another wormhole. The Butler pursued and entered a parallel universe. There, Alt Katsim engaged in negotiations with an alternate version of Security Officer Kovacs, who was subsequently detained and placed in the ship’s brig.

Meanwhile, Commander Arlill and a team – including officers Lahl, Forsyth, Nis, and an alternate version of Nurse Miash – boarded the GGS Trillian to recover a crystal believed to be of strategic importance. The ship’s Counsellor, Lieutenant JG Sevantha Saa, raised concerns that the mission may be a trap orchestrated by a figure known as Goldie, reportedly a “collector” of Starfleet officers and other sentient beings in that universe.

According to most recent reports, the Butler moved into closer proximity to the Trillian under Commander Katsim’s orders. More on this story as it develops.
