USS Octavia E. Butler recovers at Deep Space 14

DEEP SPACE 14, NEW BAJOR — Having assisted numerous refugees in finding new homes, the crew of the Octavia E. Butler spent some time exploring New Bajor and the even newer Deep Space 14.

The CO was seen in a replica of an ancient entertainment den called an ‘arcade’ with a junior officer. Two animals from the ship were also seen enjoying DS14’s perpetual creek—an impressive feat of ecological engineering that forms a loop through the habitat ring.

A festival on New Bajor was interrupted by a medical emergency involving two crew members who reportedly experienced a shared consciousness. One festival-goer noted, “A big Klingon and a blue officer talking in unison and finishing each other’s sentences. They mentioned a transporter malfunction.”

The Starfleet Corps of Engineers has confirmed that the Octavia E. Butler’s transporters have been shut down following “multiple concerning incidents.”

During an awards ceremony in the Butler’s “Writers Room” (their forward lounge dedicated to the works of the Butler’s namesake), several promotions and ribbons were awarded. Avander Promontory has become First Officer, with Security Chief Ainne Sherlock promoted to Second Officer. Lieutenant Junior Grade Herrick has been promoted to full Lieutenant and has been appointed as the Chief Engineer. Lhandon Nilsen assumed the role of Assistant Ops Chief. All crew received the Maiden Voyage Ribbon, the Diplomacy Ribbon, the First Contact Ribbon, and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award. The crew awarded several additional ribbons for individual accomplishments, and they recognized three crew members with the Prisoner of War Ribbon. The ceremony also marked the farewell of Commander Etan Iljor, who has taken command of the ‘Oumuamua.

Commander Margaret Walker, most recently of Central Starfleet Intelligence, has taken on the role of the new intelligence chief for the Butler. She will address increased Zet and UDP activity and additional agitation in the Quadrant. Lieutenant Jack Kessler has returned to active duty after being officially listed as MIA. There are limited details about his disappearance and reappearance.

The Butler’s next mission involves investigating the lack of updated reporting from the Unity Dow, a Neo-Con ship recently added to the Starfleet Gamma Quadrant Flotilla.
