USS Kitty Hawk saucer section crashes on Luna during Frontier Day

SOL SECTOR — The USS Kitty Hawk narrowly avoided destruction during the Borg assault on Frontier Day as its saucer section crash landed on Earth’s moon Luna, leaving the crew to contend with severe casualties and chaos.

The battle escalated quickly when Borg drones Two and Seven of Eleven launched an assassination attempt on Captain Roshanara Rahman. The injured Rebecca Iko tried to shield the captain but was severely wounded in the process. While unassimilated crew members managed to neutralize the drones temporarily, the situation grew dire as the Borg fleet launched an assault on Probert Station, forcing the USS Kitty Hawk to divert toward Terra Luna.

Aboard the ship, Borg drones Five and Six of Eleven targeted the Galadoran Gnai, only to face internal strife among the assimilated officers. Samantha Richards briefly regained control of herself, but she was quickly re-assimilated as Six of Eleven. During this struggle, the Yirah symbiote intervened to protect Gnai.

Meanwhile, in Sickbay, the crew faced further complications. The discovery of Borg DNA caused critical issues, with officers Alora DeVeau and Torvi Ylvor suffering from the intensified assimilation signal. Ylvor, overtaken by the signal, was transformed into Three of Eleven, unleashing chaos in the medical bay. Doctors created a force field to contain the situation and began working on a plan to disrupt the assimilation signal.

On the bridge, the remaining Borg drones engaged in a fierce fight with the crew. Despite their best efforts to prevent the ship’s saucer from separating, the inevitable occurred. Ikaia Wong used distraction tactics and modified phasers in a desperate attempt to hold the drones at bay, but the helm console was destroyed by One of Eleven, making a crash landing unavoidable.

In Engineering, Commander Wil Ukinix faced a separate crisis. With the saucer separation plan in jeopardy, he fought to evacuate the section remotely while under attack. Despite the overwhelming challenges, Ukinix successfully separated the saucer section, now under the command of Ikaia Wong. The crash landing on Luna left a new crater on the moon’s surface, marking a catastrophic end to the mission.

As the dust settled, Captain Rahman and Vice Chief Marshal Blake were captured by the Borg. Unassimilated crew members, including Richards and Harrison Blackwood, narrowly escaped amid the chaos. The Borg drones were eventually subdued, but not before significant damage and loss of life.

In the aftermath of Frontier Day, the Kitty Hawk’s saucer lay in ruins on Luna, and the surviving crew began the arduous task of assessing the damage. A timely intervention led to the destruction of the Borg Cube, cutting off the assimilation signal and restoring a fragile sense of order, though the long-term effects remain unclear.

As one crew member put it, “What a day.” It was a sentiment shared by many as they prepared to rebuild and regroup following the harrowing battle.
