USS Gorkon outsmarts second Borg cube with help from unexpected allies

BETA-15187 Dust Cloud — Trapped in a radically altered timeline where the Borg reign supreme and Starfleet has been erased from existence, the crew of the USS Gorkon (NCC-82293) successfully evaded a Borg assault while taking refuge within the nebula.

The crew of the Gorkon faced a critical situation as the Borg launched plasma torpedoes within the nebula, forcing the starship out of its protected location. With officers securely fastened in their seats on the bridge, the rest of the crew experienced violent turbulence, thrown from side to side as if they were mere rag dolls amid the chaos.

While a team of engineers worked tirelessly to repair the damaged warp core, bridge officers devised multiple strategies to divert the attention of the Borg cube that had detected them. Their plans ranged from deploying modified probes that mimicked the ship’s signature to firing phasers and torpedoes to intensify the nebula’s ion storms and anomalies.

Elsewhere on the ship, the crew made a chilling discovery: Borg drones had attached themselves to the Gorkon‘s outer hull, and some had boarded the ship. A swift electrification of the hull eliminated the external threat, while the crew defended themselves against the remaining drones onboard.

One team managed to rescue civilians and relocate them to a safer area, laying traps to protect themselves in the process. Another team wasn’t so fortunate. They encountered Borg drones and suffered casualties, only to discover that some of the fallen drones were already assimilated members of the Gorkon crew.

With the warp core finally restored, the Gorkon plotted a course out of the nebula, leaving the first Borg cube behind. However, their escape was short-lived. Upon dropping out of warp, they found themselves facing a second cube. As the crew continued battling the Borg invaders, reinforcements arrived in the form of a D’deridex-class warbird, flanked by two Birds of Prey and a Keldon-class vessel. The allied ships transmitted a data burst to the bridge, containing vital information.

After deciphering the data, the Gorkon crew initiated an EMP pulse, disabling the remaining Borg drones and providing a temporary reprieve. Though damaged, the Gorkon followed their rescuers to the Nassau asteroid within the Ma no Umi system, seeking refuge.

“Those drones dropped like flies, you should have seen it,” said Ensign Will Weg, the only crew member available for comment. “Once we return to our real time, I’ll make a holo-adventure of this all. Maybe I can turn it into a musical!”
