Denali crew travels to a newly established Jem’Hadar colony

RING 42 – The crew of Denali Station traveled a short distance on Ring 42 to assist a newly established Jem’Hadar colony struggling with several unexpected challenges since their arrival.

After concluding shore leave with a spectacular fireworks display, the crew of Denali Station was surprised the following morning when contacted by the leader of the Jem’Hadar colony. This group had set up their settlement roughly 15 degrees away from the city on the Ring. Commodore Oddas, familiar with these Jem’Hadar from previous encounters, knew they were free from dependency on Ketracel White. Having previously helped their leader, Prime Bekanar’Klan, establish a peaceful colony on Aturn VII, she was concerned that their relocation to the Ring signaled trouble. Oddas dispatched the USS Eagle to investigate.

The crew arrived after a short trip and divided into three teams before beaming down. Commodore Oddas, Commander Falt, and Lieutenant Commander Williams met with Prime Bekanar’Klan, who explained their forced departure from Aturn VII. He shared that they had discovered an excellent location for farming on the Ring, but soon after planting crops, a mysterious contagion rendered their efforts futile. Williams began investigating the fields and collecting soil samples, while Oddas and Falt followed the Prime to the colony’s operations center, where he granted them access to the Jem’Hadar’s data on the issue.

During their investigation, a Cardassian ship arrived, carrying Ambassador Lukin Zorkal. The Ambassador insisted on speaking with the Commodore and, upon learning she was at the settlement, beamed down to join her. Expressing his concerns over the Jem’Hadar presence, Zorkal’s visit was interrupted by news from Williams, who had uncovered a strange object buried in the soil. Though the Prime dismissed it as inconsequential, the group went to investigate.

As discussions ensued about how to excavate the object or collect samples from beneath it, Commander DeVeau joined them, reporting her findings. She and Doctor Vahin had toured the medical facilities with Lat’ika, a Jem’Hadar doctor. During the visit, they discovered that one of the young Jem’Hadar lacked the mutation enabling the others to live without Ketracel White. Faced with the prospect of the young Jem’Hadar having to leave the colony upon reaching maturity, Doctor Vahin offered to research possible solutions.

Oddas authorized the effort and agreed to DeVeau returning to the Eagle to analyze crop and soil samples with Sofia Falt, the XO’s mother and a Professor of Botany. Before DeVeau could leave, the Eagle received a Morse code SOS from Lieutenant Commander Kettick’s team, prompting Commander Falt to investigate.

Kettick’s team, accompanied by Jem’Hadar technician Drex and engineer Tanner, had been inspecting the colony’s reactor, powered by a repurposed Jem’Hadar ship engine. During the inspection, the entrance hatch unexpectedly sealed, trapping the team inside with limited oxygen. The engineers used the distribution pipes to send a pulse signal—an SOS received by the Eagle. As Tanner worked on the conduits, Drex analyzed inscriptions found by Kettick but inadvertently triggered a trapdoor, sending Kettick into an underground chamber. The team regrouped and began exploring the newly discovered area.
