DEEP SPACE 14, NEW BAJOR — Key officers depart the USS Octavia E. Butler, crew investigate disappearance of a Starfleet vessel near Omicron Victor IV system..
In a significant personnel shift aboard the USS Octavia E. Butler, Lieutenant Commander Aine Sherlock, who had recently assumed the role of Chief of Security and Second Officer, is being promoted and transferred to the reactivated USS Chin’toka. Joining her in this new chapter is veteran counselor Alexander Brodie, previously of the USS Thor.
During a stop at DS14, several crew members shared their thoughts on the departure of these esteemed officers. “They were fine officers,” remarked Lt. Commander Katsim Peri, Chief Science Officer. “They will be missed.”
Security Officer Lieutenant Anton Richards echoed the sentiment, saying, “It’s always tough to see people go, you know? But that’s the kind of change that Starfleet brings. It’s part of what makes the experience exciting, so I wish them the best and hope that health and happiness follow them to their new posts.”
Chief of Operations Lieutenant Toxin Arlill added, “My relationship with these two officers was primarily professional, although I would have liked to get to know each of them better. I know for a fact that our ship is suffering a loss with their departure.”
In a separate development, an anonymous source has revealed details about the Butler’s current mission. According to this source, Commander Lia Rouiancet, captain of the Butler, is investigating the disappearance of a fellow Starfleet vessel, the USS Unity Dow, a Constitution-III class ship last seen en route to the Omicron Victor IV system. Despite requests for more information, Starfleet has remained tight-lipped about the incident.
The same source suggested that the Omicron Victor IV system is avoided by the United Dominion of Planets, and the leading theory points to the crew succumbing to space madness. This story is developing, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
