USS Juneau Investigates A Series Of Hit-And-Run Attacks In The Aavaro Wilds

AAVARO WILDS — After concluding their shore leave at Lightside Station, the USS Juneau (NX-99801) set out to investigate a series of hit-and-run attacks affecting civilian ships. Less than a day into the exploration of the area, they encountered CFS Gaufakin of the Cardassian Freight Services.
The Gaufakin, captained by Pelgi Traid, was the most recent victim of the mysterious attacker, alleged to be Breen and Jem’Hadar fighters. Traid reported the attackers — who took his cargo of cryogenic farming components — had disabled and boarded his ship.
“We were promised Starfleet would protect us!” Traid exclaimed, losing the ship a blow to multiple Cardassian colony worlds. “Where were they when my ship was blown to pieces?”
The Juneau pursued the attackers and quickly found itself forcibly dropped from warp.
Set upon by the same attackers, some of whom boarded the ship just as others targeted the ship’s engineering department and warp core. The invaders removed the warp plasma from the core, disabling the ship, and forced it to run on dwindling back up batteries during a fight with the Breen vessel, which could cloak itself to escape detection.
However, even with the Juneau disabled, a combination of Engineering and Security staff repelled the boarders. Meanwhile, the crew worked to negate the advantage the Breen ship had by attaching a pair of magnetic probes to the hull.
With the invading forces fended off, the crew took advantage of the small respite to facilitate repairs before setting out to track down the opposition, leading them into the local Sandwich Nebula.
While en route to the nebula, the Medical staff made the startling discovery that the Breen were somehow creating a genetically augmented Jem’Hadar.
More on this story as it develops.
