USS Veritas launched nearly 600 years back in time

THE SHOALS – While investigating a reported Borg vessel in orbit of a dead planet in the Shoals, the USS Veritas was sent hurtling back in time.
With Captain Roshanara Rahman and Commander Mei’konda Delano off the ship to participate in the annual Starfleet Admiral’s Banquet, temporary command has passed to second officer Lt. Commander Evan Delano. What was hoped to be a routine patrol proved to be anything but when Starfleet contacted the Veritas to inform them of Ohanze reports of a Borg vessel in orbit of a dead planet in the Shoals deep within the Shadows.
With an Ohanze representative aboard, the Veritas intercepted the Borg vessel as quickly as possible and discovered it to be a small probe, one outmatched by the Veritas’ weaponry. It was quickly destroyed, but the Veritas was pulled several hundred years into the past by a surge of chroniton particles. Logs left in a secure location by the crew of the Veritas, their location auto-transmitting to Starfleet Command at the exact moment the ship was pulled back in time, were found floating dormant in space for nearly six hundred years.
“Five hundred and ninety-one years, to be more exact,” reported Ensign Maiman Terpes, the Veritas’ resident astrophysicist, in a static-laden log recording degraded over the centuries. “We’re currently working on a way to recreate the event and travel back to the present.”
Starfleet forces in the area are actively searching for the Veritas, whose location – in both time and space – is currently unknown.
