USS Apollo sees off Hierarchy threat after ambush in Delta Quadrant

POUIYEOG REGION — The Hierarchy was forced to retreat after a battle on two fronts between Outpost Unity and New Talax.

Having been ambushed by Hierarchy battleships in their first foray into the Delta Quadrant, the crew of the USS Apollo-A found themselves splitting their forces without having performed a trial run, as the Apollo’s escort ship – the Artemis – sped off across the quadrant to deal with the threat to Outpost Unity, while the Apollo remained behind to combat the attack on New Talax.
Despite the Apollo far outmatching its opponent, the commander of the Hierarchy vessel clearly had a few tricks up his sleeve and after a game of cat and mouse, Rear Admiral Renos and nir crew found themselves having to thwart a last-ditch suicide run by the Hierarchy on New Talax, through the use of their tractor beam as well as their weapons.
Meanwhile, orbiting Outpost Unity, the Artemis – under the command of Lieutenant Commander Gogigobo Fairhug – was dividing its already divided personnel even further, with a skeleton crew remaining on the bridge, whilst a SAR team attempted to help in any way they could on the surface.
Despite being outnumbered, the Artemis was able to even the odds when Chief Science Officer Ensign Davine D’fini was able to find a way to render the Hierarchy’s cloaking technology ineffectual.
“By adjusting the ship’s sensors, we were able to isolate the radiation being produced by the Hierarchy vessels,” explained D’fini. “While we still couldn’t exactly see them, it meant that we were able to track them pretty accurately and get a better idea of their movements.”
Once it had become clear this was not a fight they were going to win, the Hierarchy soon abandoned their attempt on the outpost and disappeared as quickly as they had arrived.
Hierarchy Fleet Leader Bute and his crew – who were responsible for the attack on New Talax – have been placed in custody and are now awaiting trial.
“The attack was horrific, indiscriminate and unwarranted,” said Admiral Renos. “It is only fair that the perpetrators face the full force of the Talaxian justice system.”
With the repair and aid efforts on both New Talax and Outpost Unity well under way, Admiral Renos has arranged for the senior staff of the Apollo to enjoy some recreational downtime, preparing for them a simulated scavenger hunt, which will allow them to sample all the delights that the various Delta Quadrant species have to offer, as well as get a feel for the many friends and adversaries they will no doubt encounter on their continuing mission.
