Starfleet Captain survives yacht crash landing and found on isolated planet

M-18138512 — Captain Whittaker of the USS Columbia located on isolated planet having survived a crash landing in his Captain’s yacht. Quarantine is now enforced for access to Sagittarius Reach.

A rescue effort by the USS Columbia (NCC-85279) has located missing Starfleet officer Capt. Whittaker on a previously uncharted planet. A team led by Lt. Cmdr. Mirra Ezo discovered the captain had suffered a malfunction with his yacht and had crashed landed on M-18138512, a planet located on the edge of the Sagittarius Reach.
A team led by Lt. Anath G’Renn, whilst investigating a second site, stumbled upon a settlement, believed to pre-date Federation exploration of the system, although it is not yet known whether the settlement was inhabited or for how long it has existed for. This news has anthropologists excited, as it had previously been speculated that no sentient life had existed in the Sagittarius Reach.
As rescue efforts got underway on the surface, the Columbia continued its investigation of the nearby asteroid field, including sending a team to search the wreck of the USS Belle (NCC-71619). The search found a sole survivor of the ship’s two hundred hands but was unable to establish what happened the rest of the crew.
We were able to catch up with Petty Officer Bazize, who had this to say.
“It’s great t’ave the cap’n back. Can’t imagine Lt. Cmdr. Thoran or Lt. Cmdr. Tatash will be lettin’ ‘im out on ‘is own any time soon,” he laughed heartily. “I ‘eard Lt.Cmdr Ezo gave ‘im an earful too.”
With Capt. Whittaker now safely aboard, the Columbia, with the Belle in tow departed the system. Due to the hazardous nature of the area, a quarantine has been placed on the system, with ships requiring pre-approval from Starfleet Command to enter. The Columbia rendezvoused in a nearby system with the USS Ptolemy who is to take the Belle back to Starbase 118 for further examination.
The Columbia also said goodbye to three long-standing members of its senior staff – Lt. Cmdr. Randal Shayne, Lt. Krindo Pandorn and Lt. JG Hal Mika, all of whom are transferring to the USS Eagle.
