Barrage of viruses run rampant on Starfleet vessel

USS BLACKWELL – Federation sources confirm that the Olympic-class USS Blackwell (NCC-58999) has experienced an incursion of viruses, both biological and technical, while while on routine operation near the Burellion system
A malicious technical malfunction resulted in a loss navigational control. After heroic efforts to stop the virus, a last-ditch effort to undermine the virus by delivering a shock-pulse to the ship using the deflector dish resulted in severe damage to to the vessel that resulted in the ejection of the warp core.
In the midst of the chaos, telepathic crew members began experiencing unexplained thought projections and invasive memory exchanges, with Capt. Zaekia – a Kalean telepath – was forced to remove himself from command and temporarily place the ship in the first officer’s hands. Doctors and counselors came together and determined that a malignant virus was the culprit, and they are currently working to heal those affected.
RAdml. Renos, the Andaris Task Force’s highest ranking officer, was engaged in diplomatic meetings with Consortium founder, Dr. Richardson, and was called back to the Blackwell to help with the present situation. With the extent of damage to the Blackwell quite severe and few Federation resources nearby to assist, the Renos was forced to contract with the Consortium to help rebuild the ship.
“I’m sure glad that Commander Brell is not here to see this. I hope he’s doing well on his new ship,” remarked CW3 Saul, an engineering technician while assessing the wreckage of engineering.
