“We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and ‘slipped the surly bonds of Earth’ to ‘touch the face of God.” Those words, spoken by President Ronald Reagan, remind us of the tragedy that occurred 25 years ago as the Space Shuttle Challenger was lost. Just as Star Trek has been our inspiration, so too has the true life story of Earth’s own historic space program, and the brave men and women who’ve been a part of it, shown us the grandest depths and heights of the human spirit.
