Multi-Vector Attack Mode (or MVAM) is a process where a Prometheus-class vessel splits into three sections- the Dorsal section, the Middle section and the Ventral section. This permits the ship to engage multiple hostiles at once, to avoid hazards a larger ship couldn’t dodge, and to literally be in up to three places at once.
Each section is warp capable, although the Air Group is housed in (and may only be launched from) the Ventral section. Each section has their own shield generators, their own warp core which gives the combined ship extremely remarkable redundancy.
Multi-Vector Attack Mode was used during Operation Bright Star in the final battle for DS-17. Although the Ventral and Dorsal sections suffered extremely serious damage, the Middle section was able to carry on the fight unhindered.
The Independence-A sails under the command of Fleet Captain Sidney Riley.
