USS Albion (Website)
Motto: "Boldly, Faithfully, Happily."
Mission Report: On the way to a diplomatic mission the Albion has been waylaid investigating a Constellation class vessel. Trapped by a gravimetric anomaly the crew is investigating the vessel and finding a way out.
USS Constitution B – Galaxy Class (Website)
Motto: "Undefeated"
Mission Report: We have been camping on a planet within the anomaly near the StarBase. The planet was very refreshing and offered lots of entertainment for the crew. On the last night of our stay, a few officers were going mountain climbing. While doing this, they inadvertently discovered a Borg drone dating back several decades.
We called off shore leave and began combing the area. More drones where discovered along with a computer of some sorts. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an area of space, not far from our location held a StarFleet vessel. This vessel appears to be the USS Defiant NCC 1764. The Constitution class starship that was lost in Tholian space.
There were also different signatures there as well, including Borg, Tholian and others. We have decided to go and investigate. We hope to discover all that we can. During a meeting with the senior staff, one of the away team members fell faint. CMO Rocar believes it has something to do with the creatures on the surface. I am sending down a team to collect a specimen and come back with it.
The away team was successful in capturing one of the alien creatures. We now have it on board and are heading to the so called dead space. I believe that this mission is taking a direction all of its own. I need to find out what happened to the Defiant and the other vessels in that area. Hopefully our guest will provide the details that we need.
We have rescued a survivor from a Borg attack, her name is Anquest. She was the captain of what appears to be a seed vessel. This ship was carrying what was left of her species. Her home was attacked and destroyed by the Borg. Now she is the only surviving member of her species.
Upon meeting with her, I am sympathetic to her cause. I will do all that I can to assist her in her search for revenge. I admit that this may not be the Starfleet captain attitude, but how could those 'things,' for a lack of better word, commit such atrocities.
The dead space is looming ever closer. We must discover the answers.
USS Independence – New Orleans Class (Website)
Motto: "A little revolution is good every now and then."
Mission Report:
Leave was initiated by a series of news that seemed to ripple a sort of Renaissance to the Independence Crew. After the previous mission, where a faction of the crew came face to face with the mirror universe, and the other half opposed other worldly foes, time down was definitely needed to rejuvenate the officers. This time signified the departure of known officers and the emergence of fresh Ensigns as well as Lieutenant Caleb Zaahn (who came out of LOA), ready for adventure waiting for them around the bend. As the USS Independence was dry-docked at the Midway Repair Station for maintenance and heavy duty repairs, this time also proved a lot of changes in the crew… physically, mentally, and within the roster itself. There was the birth of Lieutenant Johnathon Kirov’s twin babies that brought happiness amongst the ranks. The children were named after Lieutenant Carmen Rogers and Lieutenant Danny Wilde, as well as being dubbed the godchildren of the steadfast Captain herself. A bittersweet symphony seemed to rattle other members; after the promotions of Lieutenant Mar, Lieutenant Commander Trollin and Lieutenant Commander Devar, the Second Officer retreated to Vulcan to undergo emotional purging from recent revelations concerning her father when she faced his mirror counterpart. That aside, leave was inevitably cut short by the hijacking of the Trillium, a Prometheus-class cruiser with an interactive computer core… Artificial Intelligence. Captain Anassasi and her crew were the first on the scene, quickly apprehending a shady Ktarian Security Officer (who had attacked Lt. Mar, which resulted in loss of memory with her joined symbiont) and a Ferengi stowaway. Captain Tarita’s (the CO of the Trillium) quarters were also investigated, unraveling pieces that linked Mar to the missing ship. However, upon further investigation, Ferengi intervention was soon concluded. Commander Kare’en commanded the shuttle Rebel in pursuit of the ship, but found the Trillium firing on Ferengi ships… it gave the Rebel a warning shot, and the crew dared back to Midway, knowing full well that they could have been eradicated as well. Shortly thereafter, a meeting was held and the crew was assigned onto the Steam Class Runner ship, the USS Grendel. This ship had been sitting dormant for some time and was in serious need of work. However, with time running out and reports coming in on attacks to Ferengi posts, there wasn’t much of a choice. Anassasi’s officers were fighting with investigations on the Trillium itself, as well as spurring life back into the old ship. Just recently, the Grendel has been fired upon by a Ferengi vessel… the Daimon in command has been apprehended. The Grendel itself has sustained major damage… The reports are still flying in.
USS Kodiak – Dauntless Class (Website)
Motto: "Mission First, People Always."
Mission Report:
After a successful mission to the Gamma Quadrant the Kodiak crew takes leave at DS9. Rumors persist that Admiral Hollis will be leaving for SB118 to act as assistant to Vice Admiral Gher Head of Tactical Deployment. The move of Kodiak to Midway Repair Facility only adds to the rumors. Admiral Hollis’ redeployment is delayed with Star Fleet loses contact with Dr. Von Gray’s observation team on Ditrikian Prime. The Ditrikians are a class E culture recovering from a massive world war. Just before the observation team went silent a space faring race of amphibians called the Herpitities arrived. The aliens appear to be assisting the Ditrikians in a wide variety of beneficial ways. The Kodiak crew on the USS Triumphant leave DS9 to recover the missing team, and make contact with the Herpitites. Presently, an away team is on the planet disguised as Dirtikians, while another group has been invited to visit the Herpitite mother ship.

SB 118 – Trojan Class StarBase (Website)
Motto: "The important thing is this: To be able at a any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become."
Mission Report: Captain Nekkar looked out the massive viewport on the giant Trojan class StarBase. Freighters and transports glided into and out of the gleaming white Federation "island" in the inky blackness of space. Nekkar was a Talarian, the FIRST Talarian in Starfleet. Now he would go down as being the first Talarian Captain. He had succeeded Fleet Captain Xan Hebron who had trained Nekkar from his first day as an Ensign. The Fleet Captain had succumb to the "call of the stars" and took the USS Constitution on an extended mission of exploration through the new wormhole, into the Delta Quadrant. The newly promoted, Captain Nekkar, was put in charge of the StarBase, and given an Akira class vessel, the USS Discovery (NCC 31929) to guard the frontier.
At the close of the Dominion War, the Cardassian Union had all be been dismantled. Their subject planets had been liberated and their fleet decimated. The Federation turned to "other matters." With the Cardassian weaker than they had ever been and the Federation stretched so very thin -- the Ferengi took the opportunity to "expand their markets." They deployed a prototype cloaking device that reduced the cycle time by a factor of ten. (The ship could de-cloak and recloak in one tenth the time of a Romulan warbird.) To say the very least -- that upset the delicate balance that existed in the region. The Romulans had tried to get their hands on the Ferengi inventor but his own brother, feeling he was 'cheated' killed the Ferengi inventor. Luckily, Fleet Captain Hebron and Captain Nekkar discovered that the new Ferengi cloaking device was only good for a few uses and then burned up the device. That was the good news. The bad news was that the Cardassians were back to subjugating planets, with a new twist. They backed indigenous factions, helping THEM to gain power, then ruled via these puppet groups. Nekkar considered the future. The Cardassians were rebuilding, the Ferengi were "expanding" and civilians were flocking to the Federation for asylum by the thousands. All the reports showed a steady increase in LRNC (legal-resident, Non-Citizen) numbers. Ferengi females were leaving the Ferengi Alliance due to the repression of their gender. Civilians from the new Cardassian satellite planets were fleeing "before the Cardassians took total control" His base we becoming an island of freedom and stability in a vast sea of repression and uncertainty. In short, Nekkar's starbase was the "home" for a growing number of LRNC's that really had no where else to go. Close to StarBase 118 is the Daris system.
On Fleet Captain Hebron's last mission the planet Daris II had become unstable and exploded. The destruction of Daris II created a vast debris field which is now effecting the only remaining populated planet in the system, Daris III. On a survey of the debris field -- the USS Discovery found several very "interesting" things -- and Captain Nekkar contacted the Bolian High Council with an offer to give them a contract to "mine" (and remove) the debris field from the Daris system. The mining operation will therefore eliminate the threat the debris field poses to life on Daris III. Currently, the USS Discovery is preparing to go to the home world of the Ferengi, Feriginar. The Grand Nagus has asked for the Federation's help in his succession.
He is stepping down and will be choosing a successor. Nekkar had wondered WHY the Grand Nagus had asked for the Federation's help, or WHY the Federation had agreed. It turned out that the Grand Nagus offered to sign a treaty "clarifying some disputed areas of space" on the Federation / Ferengi border. The Grand Nagus wanted the Federation's help because there is a Cardassian and Romulan team already on the ground on Feriginar. The Grand Nagus was willing to "resolve" the question of disputed space if the Federation could keep "outside powers" from meddling in Ferengi Succession. Just when Nekkar was warming up to the idea -- a Federation "Intelligence Advisor," Mr. Smith was assigned to Captain Nekkar's ship. Was the Federation attempting to do the very thing that Captain Nekkar was being sent to prevent? Was Mr. Smith going to attempt to manipulate Ferengi Succession to put a Federation picked Nagus in power??
Steadfast – Galaxy Class (Website)
Motto: "Strength, perseverance, and integrity amongst the stars."
Mission Report:
As the STEADFAST was preparing for an astronomical survey mission, we suddenly received a distress signal from a Federation civilian convoy. The STEADFAST responded to the distress signal and found the convoy under attack by three Nausicaan marauder vessels. The STEADFAST succeeded in fighting off the Nausicaan ships but not before a Nausicaan boarding party got onto one of the civilian ships and kidnapped a certain individual. The crew is still attempting to ascertain the reason for the attack and the identity of the kidnapped individual.USS Titan – Sovereign Class (Website)
Motto: "The Keeper of the Flame."
Mission Report: The Titan was sent to a previously
unexplored part of space to map and explore. While there a long range probe
picked up a power source emanating from a planet in this sector. Discovered on
this planet where three pyramids matching the Giza plateau pyramids on earth
exactly in measurement and make up. We have three teams on the surface
investigating this phenomenon. The power source seems to be coming from under
one of the pyramids.
USS Victory – Intrepid Class (Website)
Motto: "Honi Y Soit Qui Mal Y Pence."
Mission Report: The Victory is on a mission to
recover a missing Officer. Lt Hapgood was kidnapped during a skirmish with the
Cardassians. The Victory has discovered that he was beamed of the ship while her
shields where down. While following a ship we believe to hold the Lieutenant.
The crew is working around the clock to bring systems back on line. Tactical
report that there may be a ship in hiding within a asteroid belt. A shuttle has
been launched to flush them out. The mission is on going

Tactical Ship Analysis – Excelsior Class
Type: Cruiser
Length: 467 meters
Beam: 185 meters
Draft: 100 meters
Crew: 520 (1000 personnel evacuation limit. )
Weapons:
Original:
Phasers: Twelve type 8 phaser banks
Torpedo: Four photon torpedo tube launchers
SB118 Upgrade:
Phasers: Eight type 10 phaser arrays
Torpedo: Two photon torpedo tube launchers
Velocity (in warp speed)
Cruising: 6 (estimate based on other classes)
Maximum: 9.6 for twelve hours
Support Craft: 20
Comments: The Excelsior class began as a boondoggle. Equipped with a theoretical transwarp drive designed by wildly optimistic engineers, the drives failure cast grave doubts on the entire project. Fortunately, when refit with a standard warp drive the Excelsior systems preformed beyond reproach.
The class went on to be one of the most successful in the history of Starfleet. It is still considered by many to be perfectly proportioned. The first major Excelsior sub class was created for the Enterprise D. This was followed by numerous other variants, which never performed quite as well as the original. Many of these variants were active during the Dominion War.
During the war a haphazard attempt was made to upgrade the Excelsior class using the USS Lakota. Outfitted with thirty type 9 phaser banks and quantum torpedoes, the Lakota essentially became a gun barge. In actual combat the overloaded vessel could not adequately maneuver in order to bring its firepower to bear.
After
the war amidst vessel shortages Star Fleet engineers at Star Base 118 undertook
a carefully considered up grade. By eliminating four phaser bank and up rating
the ship’s power house, eight type 10 phaser arrays could be installed. Two
modern automated torpedo launchers replaced the quad of older torpedo tubes.
Lastly science, medical, crew quarters, and
diplomatic facilities were updated to 24th century standards. These upgrades
guarantee at least another 25 years of usefulness for these grand old ladies of
the fleet.
If you are intersected in the Excelsior Class, please take a look at SB118’s own USS Albion.
Continuous Fleet Training – Counselor Position: Simming Tips
Here are a few thoughts on things counselors should do,
In briefings bring up cultural points that might effect the mission.
If an away team is beaming into a stressful situation, brief them on what they might see and how they might feel. Give them techniques for dealing with it. This is something that in Real Life helps. A patient going in for serious surgery does better if they have been told what to expect. The same is true of rescue workers.
After stressful away missions be sure to talk to all of the away team.
Create
a few NPCs on the ship that you can counsel. For example a married couple having
problems, or a recently widowed mom with a child.
Be on hand for the Captain. Try to act as a sounding board. Talk to the Heads of
departments, let them know that if anyone under them is having problems you
would like to know and to help.
Be on hand when new crew arrives. Meet them in the transporter room, and help
them get settled in. Offer them a tour of the ship. This is good simming and
puts you on hand.
Hope this helps,
Ad. Hollis (former Counselor)
