Cadet Application Process

The training system of our group is, while complex, well organized. This outline will give training officers an idea of how the system works from the applicant's point of view from entry (application) to the exit point (posting on a ship).

1. An applicant views the website and applies. They must complete all information on the application for it to be considered.
2. The applicant is reviewed by a member of the Academy Staff. He or she then decides whether the cadet is of substantial quality to sim with the group or not.
• Applicants with acceptable applications are sent an e-mail stating that they have been accepted, and that they are waiting on a training group to begin.
• Applicants with unacceptable applications are sent an e-mail stating that their application has been denied. The e-mail also includes other RPGs to take a look at, where they may find it easier to be accepted with low quality writing skills.
3. The approved applicants are placed on a waiting list for a training group. Once there are 6 applications, or a week has passed since the first application has been submitted (whichever comes first), the Commandant requests a Training Officer from the Training list.
4. Once a training officer has been chosen, a member of the Academy Staff organizes the cadets into a group and passes the information on to the Training Officers. The Commandant usually also adds the cadets to the Yahoo! Groups list and begins a roll call.
5. The Training Officer commences training, following the procedure set in the Training Manual.
6. Once training has been completed, the Training Officer evaluates the cadets and sends off evaluations to the Academy Commandant and Deputy Commandant. The training officer also asks that the cadets fill out a placement questionnaire which shows which ships they'd enjoy most.
7. The Commandant places the passed cadets according to the post they have requested, and their answers to the placement questionnaire. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commandant adds the officers who need to be retrained, to the pool of cadets still waiting for a training group. The Commandant also adds the failed cadets to a list of cadets who cannot reapply for six weeks.
8. The Academy Commandant contacts captains who have requested cadets, and ensures that cadets are accepted onto ships.
