Frequently Asked Questions
New to podcasts? Want to listen, but not sure how? This is where you can get started! Rest assured, listening to podcasts is incredibly easy!
What is a "podcast"?
A podcast is, loosely defined, a media file which is distributed by subscription for playback on a computer or mobile device. Basically, it's like a radio show that someone packages up into an audio file, and then you listen to any time you want.
How do I listen to one of the podcasts?
Listening is really easy, but you do have some options. First, let's assume you don't have a portable media device like an Apple iPod or Microsoft Zune -- we'll just assume all you have is your computer! That being the case, head back to the archive and scroll down to the episode you want to listen to. In our our archive, there is a link which says "Download" for each episode. Click on that link, and you'll automatically be brought to a website where you can download the audio file. A screen will pop up asking you if you want to "Save" or "Open" the file. Click "Save," and save it to your Desktop. Once the download completes, you can double-click on that file. (Might want to make sure your sound is turned down to an acceptable level, first! Our podcast isn't loud, but we don't want it to surprise you.) Most likely, Windows Media Player will open and play the file for you. Or, if you have iTunes on your computer, iTunes may play it for you.
If you have an iPod or other portable media device, you can simply transfer this file to your iPod so you can play it at a later time.
A simpler method of using our podcast with a portable media device is to subscribe to our feed, so that it automatically downloads the podcast for you and transfers it to your media device, whenever a new episode comes out. Want to know more about that?
