Ok, so I was looking for information on the SB Tactical department and found, well very little. :) So i have put together something to try and make sense of it all so i have a backdrop to Sim against, because i really do better this way. :) So wanted yalls opinions on what i have. So here I go....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Station Tactical: (SB-TAC)

These officers are responsible for the safety and well-being of the starbase from any external threats. Weather from attacking ships, natural space phenomenon, or incoming ships, SB-TAC must deal with anything that might cause harm to the Starbase and the inhabits there off. To help deal with all things that can affect the Starbase, SB-TAC has bee broken into 5 departments : Weapons Control, Flight Control, Operation Spec list, Ordnance Control and Fighter Control.

Weapons Control

These Crew members are responsible for the control and care of the external weapons of the base. The base is equipped with 120 Type XII phaser arrays and 48 torpedo launchers. These weapons are controlled by 12 weapons station in the Tactical area of the Hub. These stations are manned at all times to give the stations round the clock defense agents any threats to the station and there inhabitants. In addition , these crew members also coordinate with the Fighter Squadrons when they have launched, to give them information and to more effectively able to use them in situations that arise. Weapon Control officers are split in to 6 sections of 50 people each, with a Section leader and Assistant that coordinate with the Chief Tactical Officer and his assistant for work related matters.

Total enlisted – 300

Flight Control

(Taken from wiki)
The Flight Control Department (FLY-CON) of StarBase 118 is tasked with coordinating the traffic of all vessels (StarFleet, allied, and civilian) moving in and out of the immediate vicinity of the base. Flight Control acts in a similar manner to "air traffic control" of any planet's aerial plane movement. Dozens, and sometimes hundreds of small and large craft move regularly in and out of the base, and through the surrounding area, and it is critical that their movements are both efficient and safe.
Generally, FLY-CON is responsible for an area with a diameter of approximately 100,000 kilometers around the starbase. Vessels may not travel to warp, or drop from warp, anywhere within this area. Vessels traveling within the Trinity/Serellan sectors, but outside the direct range of any planets or bases, are within the jurisdiction of Sector 118 Traffic Control.

As the monitoring and routing of up to many hundreds of vessels is an incredibly complex job, there are a number of Vessel Control Teams which each share a portion of the workload. They are as follows:
• Small Craft Teams
o Fighter Watch Team
o Small Craft In/Out Team
o Maintenance Craft Team
o Small Vessel Spacedock Clearance Team
• Large Craft Teams
o Approach control
o Space Control

Two areas control the docking procedure. In the main Command Center, the head Flight Control officer oversees all docking operations, and ensures that there is no danger to the StarBase as a whole. Another location, called the Approach Control Center (ACC), devoted specifically to the actual docking procedure, is located in the docking bay itself. The ACC is staffed by both StarFleet and civilian personnel who are highly trained docking crews that work on a round-the-clock schedule. This location is filled with visual display monitors, which give the most up-to-date status on spacedock activity. Large windows look out onto the docking bays, making certain that visual contact is maintained at all times; this is especially helpful during the docking procedure.

(original)
The Flight Control officer will coordinate with the Chief Tactical officer to help in the protection of the Starbase and all of the ships under the Flight Control Department’s jurisdiction.

Total enlisted – 1000
Total Civilian contractors – 500

Operation Spec list

These officers are tasked with the gathering of information of things happing outside the base. They are the ones that operate and interpret the various scans that take place. They help in the coordination of the inbound and out bound ships for the Flight Control department, long range scans for the Intelligence Department and any scans needed for the operation of the Starbase. They route the needed information to the different departments as needed and coordinate the use of the station scanners to the various departments and people that need to use them. Lead by the Chief Operation Specialist, he coordinates with the Chief tactical Officer to ensure the safety of the base.

Total enlisted – 100

Ordnance Specialist

These officers are tasked with the care and maintenance of the torpedoes and probes that are used in the base’s torpedo launchers. Though mostly automated, the torpedo rooms still need a physical crew to maintain the smooth launch of the various torpedoes and probes that are used in Starbase operations. In case of a break down, these men and women can physically load a torpedo into a launch tube to help with the defense of the station. All torpedo rooms are manned with 5 people during normal conditions and 10 people during high alert. The Chief Ordnance Spec list coordinates with the Chief Tactical officer to ensure the stock of torpedoes and probes for the base are kept to Starfleet standards.

Total enlisted – 500

Fighter Squadrons

These officers are tasked with the use of the various Fighters and Support craft used to defend the base and in use of the Trinity-Serellan Defense Fleet. Under the command of the Fighter Commander, these squadrons are used around the clock to keep a defensive net around the sector to ensure the safety of the base and the ships traveling thru the sector. During peace time the Squadrons maintain the standards for the Trinity-Serellan Defense Fleet duties and have 20 squadrons that are always active, weather in flight or on standby. The Fighter Commander is to coordinate with the Chief Tactical officer to maintain this standard and to help in any task that Command Ops deems necessary.

Total active Fighter Squadrons – 150
Total active Support Squadrons – 20

Active Fighters – 2400
Fighters in Backup/Maintenance – 100
Active Support craft – 160
Support in Backup/Maintenance – 40
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what do you think? Too much? Too Little? I'm totally 100% nuts?:) Looking for any suggestions and comments on this to make it make sense, not overstep my bounds and still have things done right. Please comment and let me know!!!

Looks good to me - you've obviously put a lot of thought into it. My only suggestion would be in the "Fighter Squadrons" section to add something about coordinating with the marines, since we have a fighter wing as well. I assume that we'll be involved in some of the standard fighter assignemnts in addition to any marine-specific missions that come up.

Oh yes, there is a lot of stuff to add to this about coordinating with Intelligence, Marines, Security and as Reed said with Strat Ops, but i wanted to get my basic stuff down before i started adding in other departments that would have cross responsibilities with it. :) And i know the wording is atrocious and that who ever makes decisions about what gets added to the wiki would never let this fly, but again, I wanted to get this done for me right now. ;)

Why wouldn't it fly on the wiki? It's our wiki and our base, and if it is important to simming realistically, that is where it belongs.

*Edited for late night criminal neglect of correct comma placement.

Mostly because the stuff on the wiki looks professional and well done and the stuff i made...well looks like i made it:) I'll be the first to admit that i don't put together thoughts well, especially when on paper;)

Well, you may have someone sneak in and rearrange your info to look more "professional." That's what happened to me.

The wiki is a collaborative effort, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I can help you word things if you'd like.
