So I'm wondering if we have a location and a description for Gala Hall Epsilon. Has it been used before? I'd like to add the info to the Missions Register section, but I don't want to invent anything if there are already existing details.

Gala Hall Beta has been used before... According to the mission archives (hey, they really do have a use!) it would have been in the sims starting in March 2007. :o)

I don't think it ever was mentioned where each location was precisely in the station. But my guess is that the gala halls and other rooms like that would be somewhere in-between the habitat ring and the commercial sector, off of the very crowded areas to provide the events with some privacy, but away from residential areas to give some peace and quiet to the people.

As far as I know there was never a hard location given for either of the Gala Halls. I think Ramirez is probably right for a good location on them though.

If you put some of these areas at the "top" of the administrative section of the base, they could look out on the ship bay.

Since this thread is generally about "deck allocation," I thought I'd also bring up something else I saw on another thread (Academy): we need to have some development done in the Ops Development group (should I have a specific forum for that?) for some community areas on the base that StarFleet doesn't get to see too much. For example:

- Museums
- Sports arenas
- Theaters

(Feel free to brainstorm more!)

Are these all just in the Habitat zone? Or other areas as well/instead?

Remember I mentioned that it had a big viewing bay window in one of my sims.

This is good, once we've sorted the Gala Hall we should move on to another location and gradually start recording locations/ venues with pages on our wiki. Everyone up for it?

I think it might be nice to have a specific forum to discuss the development of Ops. It's just so darned big. :o)

Only thing I'm not too sure about is involving too many people in this... I mean, we're the ones who are simming on OPS, right? So technically we HAVE to sim according to whatever is decided and/or created on a daily basis. Shouldn't we either have control/veto over things (as if it was an ordinary ship where the crew decided about their messhall and other public installations) or create an official group that would monitor and approve specifications/modifications/creations?

I'm not sure who all is on the SB118 development Yahoo Group, but I've posted a couple of links from sites that may aid us in developing our own base.

I LOLed. :laugh2:

I'm not too good with computer stuff, but what I'm imagining here is that you're going to make some sort of interactive graphic of th base. Or maybe that would be too complicated due to the sheer size of it. What exactly are we going after?

A graphic of the base is way beyond my capabilities, but if there's someone who wants to do it, that would be awesome. Mostly, it's to get the Starbase as fleshed out as possible on the wiki. :)

I am wondering: How many biobeds does the main sickbay have? Has anyone ever made a diagram, etc of how it is laid out? How many ORs are attached to the main sickbay? How many other sickbays are there around the base? On which deck is the main sickbay?

Actually, the starbase has a huge medical facility. There's a medical bay but also a very large hospital, psyciatric facility, and several clinics. Many other departments, such as the diplomatic corp, have their own medical facilities, as well. There are some descriptions on the wiki, but it needs to be fleshed out more. I believe the medical facilities comprise several decks. I actually can't find too much description. I know it is there, as I've seen it before, but sometimes, they get so buried in other areas. So that is something to look at. Perhaps we can discuss this and develop it it in the Ops development group and then get it added to the wiki? It would be a great opportunity for the current medical staff to be involved in the development of your own department.

Does anyone have any more information, besides what Reed has here? Anyone ever have a medical officer on the base?
