Each week, a new poll will be posted here, and announced on the main website. We welcome suggestions for the next poll -- so please feel free to reply to this thread with anything that comes to mind! Polls do not have to be sci-fi/Star Trek related, but should be relevant to our community.

I know it's not original, but what's the best Trek film?
In honour of the forthcoming Star Trek XI...

Probably going to wait a day or two before posting a new poll. We're getting a little "Monday heavy" on news on the front page, so I don't want to overload us...

I second Karynn's suggestion of "Second Best Captain in Star Trek." Since Jean-Luc won by a landslide, it would be interesting to find out how the chips fall if you build him his own mountain from the mess and then come back to the first and cast another poll without him.

Perhaps in a few weeks ;)

Children's fantasy literature?
The Hobbit up against the likes of Narnia, Harry Potter, Golden Compass (not read the series but i think it's aimed at children?)
Can follow it up with a sci-fi equivilent though I can't think of many examples off the top of my head. and when i say 'many' i actually mean 'any'.

*flinch* NORTHERN LIGHTS is the first book of the His Dark Materials trilogy btw. Stupid that they renamed it; it's not even a compass, it's an alethiometer. Bugs me even more than how "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" was renamed for the US. "His Dark Materials" is aimed at older children though, I started reading them when I was 12.

Just realised Towel Day isn't on Ehlanii's list of "geek holidays" above.

I appologize. I think her list is generally focused on the more science oriented geeky holidays; the sci-fi stuff is a tad more my area. Please forgive me...
