The more I think about all this stuff coming together, the more I realize that we're going to need a lot more telepathic species!

For good measure, I have created a category on the wiki tagging all the species we have on the ILI which are telepathic. We also have a page on the Readers Guild website which lists them.

But I think that the range of species which are actually playable within this list is far too small. So I say we start brainstorming some non-canon telepathic species. Let's get a whole group of them together that are playable and interesting, which can eventually be presented to the CC with our other materials. Thoughts?

I think there's already a list in the guild somewhere... I'll try and find it then put a link.

Edit: http://www.starbase1...?showtopic=1151 there are discussions on whether to add delta ones or not.

If you take a look at my first post, it leads to a page that shows the current list of telepathic species. We don't have the Delta Quadrant ones on there because no one can play them.

What I'm talking about is adding non-canon species to help broaden the number of telepathic species that can be played within the group.

What have been the other ships come up with as a telepathic race in their journeys? I figure rather than starting from scratch we can build from something already created.

Found something that might be of some inspiration for this. I was on Memory Alpha and found a list of species that were seen onscreen but were unnamed and had no background. We could take a few of them and name them, create some background for them, and use them as telepathic or empathic species. Thoughts? :)

Okay... what about the idea of a race which culturally drifted from another quadrant of space? Much like the vulcans or romulans perhaps because of persecution for their telepathic skills. We could incorperate it into a ship's storyline and see how it progresses that way we get an idea of how the race may or may not work. If a CO would be willing to add it in for us, that way at least part of the group has a hand in sculpting the new species; we could pick up a few points about them to be presented and then see what the crew does. Would that be possible or is this just the ramblings of a very tired man?

Sounds like an interesting idea. Kinda like the El-Aurians in some ways.

I've been working on a non-canon species that is telepathic but not empathic... I have a few notes stored in my compy somewhere. Once it's complete, I'd love to share.

I know we had this telepathic non-canon species introduced on the Independence a few years back created by Commander/Captain Kare'en. It was called the Serpentai... it wasn't humanoid, and I doubt it could be deemed a 'playable' character, but I post those notes up here as well?

Sure. If nothing else we can use them as species that we reference, but don't actually play. Or only play NPCs of.

That was a great mission Alana...

I think there should be more research into the Serpenti, maybe with the right science team Starfleet could pull it off...
