Publicity Team
We need all the help we can get to spread the word about our community and bring in new members. No experience required, just a willingness to help out. We have lots of little tasks that can be done in just 15 minutes to help bring in new people. We're also looking for help, especially, with engaging people on our Twitter and Facebook accounts!
» Where to go: Publicity Team Yahoo! Group. Just "Request Membership" on the group, and in the box be sure to give us your character name and ship!

Community News
If you have an interest in keeping up with what's going on around the fleet, this team's for you! Members of this team post Community News on the website. This can include interviewing members of the fleet, linking to interesting items on the wiki, keeping up with forum events (Challenges, Top Sims, Poll of the Week, etc.), creating "ship closeups," and more!
» Where to go: Newsies Yahoo! Group. Just "Request Membership" on the group, and in the box be sure to give us your character name and ship!

The Wiki
Our wiki is a collaborative database of everything that happens in our fleet. You can use it to not only build a comprehensive history for your character, but also develop your ship's area of the site to keep track of previous missions, and even update the Non-Canon Encyclopedia to introduce to the fleet the new cultures, technologies, planets your ship discovers. Wiki regulars usually start on the Recent Changes page to see what's being updated, and members who accrue 500 edits of appreciable quality can also help administer the site.
» Where to go: 118Wiki's Main Page. The "Getting Started" box will introduce you to the site.

Training Team - Lieutenant Commanders
If you're a Lieutenant Commander, we need your help on the training team! Keeping up with regular training sessions requires a lot of enthusiastic members who can participate in at least one training group a month.
» Where to go: talk to your Captain and ask that they get you introduced to the Academy Commandant.

Duty Post areas
Our Duty Post areas have been sources of knowledge for new officers on how to play their post, as well as, at times, Free Form Simming areas. The Counselors held an In Character convention in 2009, while Engineers formed the StarFleet Corp of Engineers (SCE) to not only sim in character, but also develop engineering knowledge. You can help develop information for your Duty Post, introduce new members of the fleet to their In Character responsibilities, and sometimes even free-form sim with other members of your Duty Post throughout the fleet.
» Where to go: Duty Post Forums. Check out your DP's forum and see what's around! There are also links to each Duty Post area on the wiki, inside each Duty Post's forum.

Guilds
Like Duty Posts, our Guilds are places where people writing for characters that share similar qualities (species, sexuality, etc.) come together to develop this special trait. Right now, we have three Guilds: Readers Guild (Psionic characters), Guild of Vulcans, and the Lambda Alliance (Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Trans characters), but we welcome the opportunity to start another, if there is enough interest.
» Where to go: Guilds Forum. You can link to the existing guilds and suggest a new guild.

Top Sims
Did you know that, each month, you can submit your favorite sims from your ship and have the fleet vote on the best ones? At the end of the year, we vote on the entire list of winning sims, and the top sim for the year is presented at the yearly Awards Ceremony. It's incredibly simple to submit a sim - you just copy/paste it into a new thread in the Top Sims forum! You can use this as an opportunity to showcase particularly good sims from your ship, or even offer one of your own that you're particularly proud of.
» Where to go: Top Sims Forum. Rules and further information available there.

Writing Challenges
Like the Top Sims Contest, we hold a writing contest bi-monthly, but this is more free-form. A theme for each month is provided, and members are encouraged to stretch their skills to provide an interesting, suspenseful, touching, or innovative story on the theme. The winner gets to choose the next theme, and can help judge the next round.
» Where to go: Writing Challenge Forum. Rules and further information available there.

Timeline Projects
If you have an interest in either our history as a group, or general Trek history, you might want to check out the Timeline Projects, which are intended to catalog our In Character, and Out of Character group history, including our "Captains Genealogy," showing the "parentage" of each Captain in the fleet, all the way back to the start of our group. Open to all, you just need a willingness to help out with research and organization.
» Where to go: Timeline Projects Forum. Rules and further information available there.

The (Image) Collective
This Team will help you create great-looking images for your ship and characters! If you're looking for help in creating custom images for your ship or character, or you can help others with this, check out this team!
» Where to go: Team Wiki Area. Information about requesting an image, or joining the team, is available here.

Species Development Committee
Our "Intelligent Lifeform Index" is a comprehensive list of Star Trek species that you can play in our group. But we need help keeping it up-to-date and cleaning up under-developed entries. If Trek species are of interest to you, be sure to check this one out.
» Where to go: SDC Yahoo! Group. Just "Request Membership" on the group, and in the box be sure to give us your character name and ship!

Member Chats
Every now-and-again, we like to get the fleet together and have a big chat to meet-and-greet. Not only can you simply attend our monthly OOC chats, but we're also looking for people to help moderate those chats and hold more beyond the one we do each month.
» Where to go: Chats forum. You can see what's been done in the past, and find out who may be interested in doing another.

The Reporter
The Reporter is an occasionally produced newsletter for our fleet that needs your love! Published about twice a year, this newsletter is a great way to keep lesser-involved members of our community updated on what we're accomplishing. If you have interest in helping to edit the newsletter, or write interesting articles that fleet members would like to read, this is the team for you!
» Where to go: The Reporter Forum. Express your interest in the open thread.

Podcasts Team
Do you have an experience in creating podcasts? We put out a couple a few years ago, and they were very well received! Working in conjunction with the News team, we need at least one person who either knows a great deal about working with Skype and audio editing software (or is really motivated to learn!), and other folks to support that person!
» Where to go: Podcast Forum. Express your interest in the open thread.
