Tutorials and Documents

To assist new members in becoming acclimatized with our group, we've compiled some materials which are relevant to both the Star Trek universe, as well as SIMming. Most of the information here is "optional reading," (except for the training tutorials), but even die-hard Star Trek fans may find some new and useful information. We strongly encourage everyone to take some time to peruse this archive.

Internet-Oriented Information

These tutorials will help you learn how to do some common tasks members of our group often have to do.

Star Trek Background

We have four special articles on StarFleet, the United Federation of Planets, StarFleet Academy, and StarBase 118, all of which long-time and new Star Trek fans will find useful and informative. If it's been a while since you've watched Star Trek, or you've missed some episodes in any of the series, you'll find these articles particularly illuminating.

Training Tutorials

During training, you will be asked to read a series of tutorials which will teach you how to SIM. This is different than being a part of the training group, as the training group will teach by example, while the tutorials will teach by detail. If you're so inclined, you can read these tutorials ahead of time, here.

In Character "How to..." Series

Once you're on a ship, you will find that there are times when SIMming isn't as easy as you thought it would be. These three tutorials will give you an idea of how to keep things moving in the right direction.

English Courses

Perhaps one of the most important elements of SIMming is being able to communicate properly. Everyone would do well to read the article below for a short refresher on a few English fundamentals.

Journies: Honing Your Technique

There are more subtle issues in SIMming than what can be found above. This set of tutorials speaks to a wide range of common SIMming considerations.
